Somerset Wallop 'Scared' Leics
---------------------------
Somerset manager Guy Kerridge has labelled lowly ranked Leicestershire 'Scared and Pathetic' in their match against the table-topping Somerset side.
"We're just looking to have a contest here in our build up to the big game against ACT. We know very well that match could go either way and potentially decide the 4D comp. My boys just weren't challenged today. I thought Prasad bowled superbly, but the Leics batsmen were running scared from him. They were pathetic."
Prasad, who took 7 wickets for the match, was the pick of the Somerset bowlers in their innings and 78 run win. The rest were snagged by Kaneria with 6, Mathur (5) and Lawson (1), with one run out. The run getters for Somerset in the massive first innings score of 490 were Sharath (126) who finally scored a 4D century after dominating in OD, Sehwag (96), Donald (55), Youhana (68*) and a surprise in Kaneria with 28 runs. Zaman on debut made only 10, however he was involved in a number of wickets.
The match was always heading for a Somerset win, with the only truly entertaining moment coming when Leics number 6 batsman Adam Hollioake knocked his own stumps over after he thought he was given 'out' caught behind. The umpire had not however, but did give the wicket when he noticed the crumped mess behind Hollioake's feet. The scorecard read; A Hollioake hit wkt b D Kaneria 42 (78)
