I'd love to see every country put out a specialist 2020 side with the selection criteria based mainly on domestic stuff but it isn't goin to happen.

But it it did, i'd like to see the team like this.

1. Loye
2. Hick
3. Maddy
4. Ramprakash
5. Craig White
6. Owais Shah
7. Tim Ambrose
8. Nayan Doshi
9. Dmitri Mascarehnas
10. Jeremy Snape
11. Stuart Broad
Can someone please explain to me why Hick doesnt even get a look in for these sides? I mean forget about the fact that he has one of the best 20-20 records around, the fact that he has international experience and world cup experience should count for something surely?

Too old, no matter how many runs he scores he won't find himself in an England team anytime soon.

I agree, Hick should be in the international side as he would be able to aid their middle order for long chases or quick ones as shows his FC average. He would also help Englands Slow batting in ODI's as he can hit runs at a fast pace without any risks as shows his OD record. I'm not one to pick on particular players but england need to find a keeper for tests and ODI's cause Nixsons to old and no offence but u dont see many keepers that wear mouth guards.

To be fair he has to wear the mouth guard to keep his dentures in place.

So Hick, 41, should be in the England side but Nixon, 37, is too old? And what does wearing a mouth guard have to do with anything? At least he doesn't wear one of those horrible 'Hannibal' masks.

Yep Cook's selection is not just laughable but confirms the fact that the selection panel still has absolutely no clue as to how to go about selecting a 20-20 or even an ODI side. Then again so is Ian Bells
I'm not sure any one of the selections on their own is bad... it's just the whole. For example, in the ODI side I could take Cook, or I could take Bell, or I could take experimenting with Prior opening. It's just the combination that gets me.

In defence of Glenn Chapple there, he's a bloomin good one day bowler, always been consistent at county level (though his stats for his season arnt to hot to say the least), who can hold more than his own with the bat (scored a couple of 50's opening for us). Had his chance at ODI cricket cut by injury, so the selectors might see this as a chance to show himself against international class batsmen.

Ok thats all in 50 over games, but he's been the mainstay in the international 6's team for years. His lack of domestic 20/20 games is due to the number of up and coming seamers we have. Why make your main bowler play in a competition that the county dont rate that highley when you can blood the youngsters? I'm sure the rest does him good.

He's very much like Mascarenhas, been a fantastic OD player for a decade, someone you know can go in at no 8 and either score freely or steady the ship. He deserves the chance.

As for Schofield. I always knew he'd come good. Ignore my sig :)

Err no his lack of domestic Twenty20 games is because he gets injured a lot and because he's piss poor at it. How the hell does he deserve a chance when he's not played it since 2005 - a season where he bowled 22 overs at an economy rate of over 10, bowling average over 30 and a batting average of under 10 at less than a run a ball?

It's farcical to have him in the squad of 30 to start with.

Age is irrelevant IMO. If Nixon can make it to an England side then surely Graeme Hick should be given some consideration. As such the 20-20 wc is a one off series, so his body doesnt need with be able to withstand the rigours of travelling and international cricket. As long as hes scoring runs in domestic cricket and doing so while maintaining a decent enough fitness level, he should be given thought for a place in this squad.

I personally don't think he's too old, but I am pretty sure the selectors will never give him a look in because of his age.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Cook turns out a success at the ODI level, at least in the near future, unless he has been playing list A cricket with a completely different batting style than he does play test cricket. Im not talking about his slow scoring rate, does he actually have the game to be a success in ODI cricket? I cant honestly ever see him hitting the ball over the top and taking advantage of the field restrictions, and there is absolutely no evidence at the test match level that he is very good at placing the ball in the gaps and nudging ones and twos.
As it stands I cringe at the sight of Bell and Cook in the top 3 in our ODI side, but both of them, in combination or otherwise, are rubbish selections for a 20-20 side IMO. If the English management has an ounce of creative thinking, they wouldopen the batting in 20-20 cricket with Kevin Pietersen which would not just be a novel idea but would be the most logical. Then again, watch and we'll have Cook and Bell opening the batting in their 20-20 world cup opener

That will probably be the case, im just surprised that almost no one on here has even considered him for their 20-20 side.
