Why is Australia Only Playing 5 Tests this Summer?

Hi All!

I've been a long time viewer of the forum and thought it was about time I posted a topic

Does anyone know why Australia is only playing 5 Test Matches this Summer?

I'd assumed its because there's more money in T20 cricket now and due to the fact that test cricket is apparently 'dying' however I thought I'd ask the question anyway.

Probably because of the T20 "World Cup" being hosted

In 2015 when Aus hosted the ODI World Cup they only played 4 Tests in the summer

Being a T20 world champion would be like being a king sitting atop a mound of feces and floodwater sewerage.

I see an early exit for India in the WT20 next year. Rohit is probably our only explosive and consistent batsman in T20, Kohli has sacrificed some of his aggression for consistency (which is great for the other formats) and not sure if Bumrah will be fit. Australia should go far in home conditions.

EDIT : Wrong thread, but I didn't know where else to put it

T20 World Cup is next season though innit?
I think it's still more or less the reason. There are more T20s scheduled this season to prepare for that, so trying to squeeze six Tests in would've been hard. Pakistan not exactly covering themselves in glory on the last few tours probably contributed as well.

It's really such a silly Test to make D/N in general because of the timezones.
Midnight to 1am test cricket in Australia. I can't wait.

Didn't that Gabba match against Pakistan go to like 11pm Brisbane time one night after it was pissing down? I remember leaving the ground around 9.30 that night and the ****ers still weren't finished after a 1 hour train ride.

Can't wait for Perth to get that treatment.
