Who will win the World Cup Mathematically

Mathematical proof

Captain of World Cup winning teams

1979 - Captain - Clive Lloyd -Left Hander
1983 - Captain -Kapil Dev -Right Hander
1987 - Captain - Border -Left Hander
1992 - Captain -Imran Khan -Right Hander
1996 - Captain - Ranatunga -Left Hander
1999 - Captain - Steve Waugh -Right Hander
2003 -- Is he going to be a left hander again ??

Is it Jayasurya or Ganguly...? ??

Now... statistics shows that after the league matches of this world cup, Australians have won 12 consecutive matches + 3 in super six and +1 in semis makes it 16. and they meet India in Finals.

Remember ....... Its the same Ganguli and Boys who broke the sequence of 16 consecutive test victories by Aussies.....

i) West Indies were the champions in 1975 and 1979.

The difference between the years is 4.

(ii) Aussies were the champions in 1987 and 1999.
The difference between the years is 12.

By Arithmetic Progression the next number is off-course 20. (4, 12, 20).

So the 2003 champions are none other than the champions in 1983.
Since 2003-1983=20.
YES it is INDIA.

INDIANS will B the CHAMPIONS

Forget stupid progressions, we all know the the World Cup will be decided on the field, and it's fairly likely to be an Australian victory.

Conveniently forgetting the 1975 World Cup there.

Which proves what?

Maybe it's a Geometric Progression? Or Exponential? Or how about it's completely unconnected.

May I remind you of the English media's trumpeting of this statistic before the 1998 Football WC:
1966 England
1970 Brazil
1974 Germany
1978 Argentina
1982 Italy
1986 Argentina
1990 Germany
1994 Brazil
1998 England (?) - or as it turned out, France

That one beats everything, even Ajit being a world class allrounder.

And you wonder why we get a tiny bit annoyed?

You know, for a first post in a forum, that wasn't bad.

Thought-provoking, well-constructed, interesting to read and above all, total and utter claptrap.

Welcome to CricketWeb, Rajesh:lol:

And it wound Neil up.:P

He'll fit in well here if he uses those qualities in every post, especially the last one!

For Top Cat's next trick, he will prove the following :

e to the power (i times pi) = -1

(sorry about the lack of mathematical notation - can't be bothered to upload any wingdings)

Someone emailed this same "mathematical" analysis and solution to me a couple of days back. It was nice to read, as a joke. If you see the fun side of it, it's worth a laugh, guys. We just shouldn't be discussing it seriously, that's all.

Here is another one that's side-splittingly hilarious:

According to Nostradamus, India is going to win this world cup.... now
Over
to Nostradamus....
The prince shall have one foot tied. Fearsome to his enemies,
he shall make his sail rebound
Having joined battle with people of Africa
Moon shining, the little great one led off.
The stone in the tree, the proud nation restored

Meaning :
The prince (prince of calcutta -> Sourav ) will be injured before
the
World Cup
but he will come back. He will play among the people of African
continent and the little one (Sachin) will lead India to victory under shining Moon(Day Night match where India will chase to win).
And then the proud India will rejoice in winning the world cup(
stone in
the tree).

Now, I challenge you guys to say that wasn't funny.

What's funnier is that some people are going to believe it! :D

And LE - Don't spoil e^pi*i for me, we're doing it in Further Maths tomorrow!

OK, Neil, I won't spoil it - other than to say that in my eyes it is one of the neatest, most aesthetically pleasing bits of pure maths you will come across until you get to grips with Fermat.

i think that Kenya will knock india over and make teh final against Australia who will have a 2 wicket win over the Sri lankans battong 2nd, batting first it will be a 15 run or less victory

MOst wickets will be lee or Murali
Most runs will be Attapattu or Jayasuria if SRL win, if aust win it could be anybody - but i think Gilchrist is Due

Re. Mathematical proof

This is soooooooooooo silly, here is one that will match the mathematical proof

1. AUSTRALIA - 9 letters.
CHAMPIONS - 9 letters.
WORLD CUP - 9 letters (including the space in the middle)
So, australia are the champions of this world cup.

2. India - 9 + 14 + 4 + 9 + 1 = 37.
3 + 7 = 10. 10 * 2 (one for Ganguly, one for Sachin) = 20.
20 + 1983 (when India won the cup) = 2003.
So, India will win the cup.

3. India opens with two right handers. Australia opens with two left handers. Two lefts can't make a right. So, two rights and one more wright will always win. So, India is set to set things right by winning the cup.

No I think Ponting will make a hundred.

I think the aussie top order will be glad as hell to get off the pathetic PE pitches.
