Well, if he didn't play AT ALL in the 60s, I think it has to be before then, since I don't think that picture was taken in the 70s.

Is it Walter Hammond?

Yes you are right. Argh. :@

I could swear that looks just like either Peter May or Ted Dexter.
If it's 50's then it could be Compton or Hutton, they must have a few records knocking about between them.

Sorry twctopcat, your question was only partly right. The records are not against the West Indies so the answer had to be NO

Everyone gets one more guess but no more questions :p

Its a rule of the game. After the first hint is offered. Everyone gets a second shot at guessing but no questions.

If that round of guesses doesnt do it, I will offer another hint and everyone gets another guess each.

OK, Considering that you did not know the rules AND hadnt asked a question OR made a guess in the first part, I will answer this one.

NO, he was not born in South Africa :)

By the way I am disappointed by the attitude of some on this forum who jump up and down or tease guys like Cricket Player for their English.

I have posted the above because someone on this forum uses the above as their signature to tease or humiliate the poor guy. It is sad to see people tease others for silly things like these.

I can't see what their big problem is .

I am glad that the guy joins this forum and makes an effort to be part of this happy gathering, why some of us have to go through a little ego boost by teasing someone for their English, I have no idea, but they are pretty intolerant IMO.

I for one am glad a guy like Cricket Player keeps contributing to the forum in whatever way he can. Good on you Mate !!
