Hadlee with his accuracy and Imran with his pace and yorkers would do well in bowling. Kapil and Botham not so much and are likely to be spanked around.

Kapil is the best hitter and fielder. But Imran, Botham and Hadlee could hit too really if it came down to it.

Though part of me thinks Imran wouldn't take the format really seriously and just quit.

I go Hadlee.

Kapil had a better economy than Imran in limited overs cricket, and was a very accurate bowler. And he was more explosive than Imran very clearly(better batsmen is another discussion).

Kapil would play IPL every year probably the biggest star
1. Good bowler with decent economy rate
2. A destructive lower order batsman
3. A great fielder
4. A popular Indian cricketer
5. A World Cup winning captain

Kapil would most likely be the highest paid player

Not sure about that. Still think Shreyas Iyer would make more than him.

Looking at the ER of that era is irrelevant. I am talking about which bowling style will translate to T20 better and a conventional swing medium pacer like Kapil is likely be more fodder.

none of them are suited as white ball bowlers in modern day tbh, Imran averages 27 in 80s ODI and Hadlee doesn't have the batting ability, Kapil and Botham are clear

We can't just look at ODI number solely to determine our judgment.

Contrary to popular assumption, sloggers in ODIs who try and smash from ball 1 don't translate as well into T20. I see what happened to Afridi happening to Kapil too.

You need those bats who are capable of actually building a knock and then accelerating and the only two who can do that are Botham and Imran.

But none of these guys are likely batting in the top 6 in a T20 meaning they will be selected primarily for bowling ability. In which case it's either Hadlee or Imran who have a bowling set that will work in this format.

I chose Hadlee because he will still be excellent and was capable of smashing the odd one towards the end.

But you overlook the fact that Kapil wasn’t a mediocre swing bowler who would get smashed. He would adapt to the situation. And he was a much better ODI bowler than Botham, so you can’t equate them in those terms
