But dont forget England won their last ashes series for nineteen years in the 80's after that you demolished us in every ashes series we played. So I think that should be able to keep you smiling
I think I may have confused you by badly wording my previous post. The depressing thought was that I couldn't see England beating Aus 3 times in a decade again.

Not really. There's more to Test cricket than The Ashes - much more - and England won nothing in between 1986 and 1989 apart from The Ashes in 1986\87. Given that Australia were for most of that period the worst Test side going around, it wasn't really that notable.

Does the fact that England beat West Indies twice at the tail-end of the 1960s, and not once for another 31 years, make that special? Not really, although England did indeed have a fair side at that point, possibly the best side of recent times.
