Best pacer of his time but not quite the flashy numbers.
Same tier but I'd take Lindwall for those reasons.Tempted to rate him over Trueman because of his better away record but suspect he bowled on some more sporting Australian tracks than the ones Trueman got in 1962/63. Had a good record against Len Hutton on memory and sorted the Ws out when they came to Australia.
His record after the first 40 tests is bullet-proof. Did alright in WI after that considering the conditions.Same tier but I'd take Lindwall for those reasons.
Are there - is bringing up Lindwall's record in Asia a regular thing? He did ok in the few Tests he got in Asia, particularly given that they came at the end of his career from the ages of 35 to 38.He's great and all but as you know there are questions marks over how he'd do in Asia in the long term. Definite top 20 but not quite top 10 imo.
Better than Lillee. Are there - is bringing up Lindwall's record in Asia a regular thing? He did ok in the few Tests he got in Asia, particularly given that they came at the end of his career from the ages of 35 to 38.
I don't see how his record in Asia is relevent at all. Hobbs never played in Asia and Lindwall only got a chance at the end of his career. He did well but even if he hadn't his record there would be irrelevant as playing in the 50s isn't comparable to what modern touring bowlers face in Asia. Pretty sure Pakistan still had matting wickets at the time too.Are there - is bringing up Lindwall's record in Asia a regular thing? Newer teams always struggle against pace and mystery spin just because they're novel.Yeah because India were pretty useless against pace with the exception of Hazare. Wes Hall was obviously not as good as Lindwall and he destroyed India in their own backyard.
Yeah, agreed - it just seemed a strange thing to bring up as though it's something which is routinely held against Lindwall when judging him. I don't recall that ever having been the case.I don't see how his record in Asia is relevent at all. Hobbs never played in Asia and Lindwall only got a chance at the end of his career. Ha, I completely missed that. If that's the case then I owe Slifer an apology! He was being sarcastic
I was being facetious......Are there - is bringing up Lindwall's record in Asia a regular thing? He did ok in the few Tests he got in Asia, particularly given that they came at the end of his career from the ages of 35 to 38.
