Anwar and Aravinda were capable of winning matches single handedly.. Ganguly was just a consistent support Act for Tendulkar. If there is a big total to chase, and Tendulkar out early means Game over for India. ( this changed only after the emergence of Yuvi and Viru )

Dravid was too slow.. And boosted avg and SR by scoring heavily and faster in easy big scoring matches. Always been the worst established specialist batsman in the team for the entire career ( not counting batsmen like Kaif, VVS, Ramesh.. Etc )

You can't have Gavaskar being greater than Dravid. But I agree with the rest. Dravid was a terrible ODI cricketer, just like Kallis. Kallis at least provided a bowling option.

YK dunks on Kohli in NZ and England whilst it's the other way around in Australia and SA. Not his fault he only got to play 2-3 match series scattered over years. Much more well rounded player.

You didn't really watch YK in England, he has done nothing there except a 200 on a flatty which inflates his average.

Well then you must've missed the fact that Kohli was absolutely abysmal for two consecutive tours and averaged in the teens. Kohli was one good ton where he was dropped multiple tons if we're doing that.

YK scored two big tons on roads on two out of three series (the first being in his debut year). That's fairly decent. Kohli had one great series and 2 that were all time bad. Are we going to pretend those didn't happen at all? He still averages 30 something in spite of that. YK was never a great player of lateral movement and it troubled him quite a bit in some parts of his career but he was never quite as bad as Kohli's lows. Will take him in a heartbeat in most conditions.

You can't have Gavaskar being greater than Dravid. But I agree with the rest. Dravid was a terrible ODI cricketer, just like Kallis. Kallis at least provided a bowling option.

Dravid contributes nothing to Team's victory, Kallis contribute enormously to opposition's victory.
Hence Dravid better ODI batsman.

Gavaskar was one of the top odi batsmen in 1980s, only few openers had SR above 60 in those days.

Not sure what cricket you watched, Kallis was a plain bad ODI player. Cost SA a lot during his career and was never a prized wicket. Would have been tempting to drop catches off him deliberately to keep him batting tbh

He has 32 MoM awards and is #3 or #4 on all time list. I don't know what cricket *you* watched. Not every game was 300 v 300 where Kallis would have admittedly been less effective.

Don't really understand what you're trying to say here

but nah he was pretty bad as a bat, at least compared to the better players of his time. Like maybe he was better than whoever would have replaced him in the team, like Boeta Dippenaar or Justin Ontong. But that's not a very high bar.

Aussie posters here have a terrible habit of ****ting on South African players of 90s and 00s. Be it Kallis or Pollock or Donald. Australia had the wood on SA, and many of them failed to shine against Aus but that doesn't mean they were useless cricketers.

Just because you think Kallis was a way better ODI player than he actually was doesn't make more realistic opinions of him incorrect, or due someone's nationality. You're better than that ankitj

anyway Pollock and Donald are ATG bowlers in all formats, never seen an "Aussie" poster ****ting on them even if they did underperform against the Aus team
