Voting will close later today and the winners will all be herded together and punished severely. It'll be an extended Halloween for them and there'll be more drafting to be done in the Draft of the Dead.

Match 1 - Teuton 4 vs ankitj 5

Winner: ankitj

With good partnerships between Merchant, Headley, and Nourse, ankitj put up a fantastic score in the first innings, featuring a truly delightful century by George Headley.

Not to be outdone, Teuton XI battled back, with fine performances by Ponsford, Ranji, and Weekes. A sparkling cameo by Keith Miller, however, put them ahead at the halfway stage of the game.

Things looked bleak for ankitj XI due to some fantastic bowling by Teuton XI. Bob Willis took wickets early on, but it was Subash Gupte who wove spells around the batsman with his mystery spin. However, a brilliant century in the second innings by Stan McCabe against the run of play, kept anjitj XI in the game.

With the pitch crumbling fast, Teuton XI worked hard at the crease, with good runs from Weekes again and Colin Bland. It was a sparkling knock from Fredricks at the top of the order that truly set them up, with vicious cuts and pulls that punished anything short. In the last over of the game, with the match entirely in balance, with all results possible, a true champion stepped up. Cometh the hour, cometh the man - Fred Trueman stepped up and bowled one of the most fiery overs he's ever bowled to end the game in ankitj's favour.

Match 2 - Pothas 9 vs Michael 0

Winner: Pothas

Bodyline tactics quickly came into play in this game and Pothas XI were soon on the front foot. WG Grace started off well, with a fine knock at the top of the order, but succumbed to the brutal attack by Harold Larwood and Bill Voce. A fighting knock by Victor Trumper was the only highlight as batsmen left the field, bruised and battered.

Pothas XI took to the field and a masterful double hundred by Len Hutton quickly took the game away from the opposition. Despite tidy bowling from Wilfred Rhodes, and some occasional rip snorters by Charlie Turner, Pothas XI piled on the runs with good contributions from May, Crowe and a sparkling century by Basil D'Oliveira to put the game to bed.

With the game under control, Peter May showed his ruthless streak once more and orchestrated his field masterfully to incorporate bodyline tactics once again. With the pitch deteriorating sharply, there was uneven bounce and stroke-making was impossible. Soon the explosiveness of Harold Larwood once again came to the fore and the game was over before it even became a contest.

Match 3 - AndrewB 3 vs ataraxia 6

Winner; ataraxia

Barnes, Barrington and Walcott managed to put AndrewB XI in front with some solid batting particularly from Barrington and some dashing strokeplay from Walcott. However, the consistent quality of Brian Statham eventually resulted in breakthroughs and George Lohmann managed to finish off the tail to restrict the score, but not before Clyde Walcott made it to a majestic hundred.

Ray Lindwall took early wickets to leave ataraxia XI in a spot of bother, however good knocks from Hammond and Compton soon steadied the ship. Despite some fiery bowling from Jack Gregory and Sylvester Clarke, Compton scored a fantastic century to keep the game balanced.

In the second innings, Brain Statham once again took wickets and proved how uncannily consistent he was with the ball. George Lohmann and Tom Richardson were also among the wickets and a fighting partnership by Frank Woolley and Jack Gregory kept the opponents at bay and they manged to put up a fighting total.

However, the brilliance of Wally Hammond was fully on display in the last innings of the game. with scintillating drives and precise nudges, Hammond masterfully guided the ball into the gaps. Aided by the capable Mankad, ataraxia XI soon put this one to bed.

AndrewB - hb, Pothas, trundler
ataraxia - BoyBrumby, kingkallis, ankitj, anil, Teuton, JOJOXI

Match 4 - kingkallis 8 vs JOJOXI 0

Winner: kingkallis

Voodoo, that's what this game was all about. Criczo voodoo and Malcolm Marshall on a mission. Sutcliffe and Hazare looked good to get good scores here, but accuracy, swing, and consistent threat from Marshall and some demon voodoo did them in.

Criczo XI put their opponents under more pressure with a big double hundred from Hanif Mohammed and hundreds from Morris and Worrell allowed them to put up a big score. O'Reilly and Tayfield kept it tight, but this pitch simply did not favour spinners plus this was voodoo so they just had no chance.

With a huge total on the board and with an uphill battle on their hands, there was more voodoo on display as Malcolm Marshall ran through them again. With Allen, Spofforth, and Benaud all chipping in with regular wickets, it was over all too soon. Because voodoo! That's right, voodoo.

kingkallis - hb, BoyBrumby, Pothas, trundler, ankitj, anil, AndrewB, Teuton

Match 5 - BoyBrumby 5 vs trundler 3

Winner: BoyBrumby

BoyBrumby's top 6 all made good starts and two of them went on to score lovely hundreds. Paynter and Stanley Jackson batted brilliantly to put up a strong score despite some brilliance from Tate and fire from Tyson.

In their first innings, trundler XI had trouble dealing with the brilliance of Sydney Barnes and the wily Clarrie Grimmett. Was it spin? Was it pace? We couldn't figure it out, and neither could trundler's batsmen.

BoyBrumby XI started off well in the second innings with good knocks from Barlow and the captain, Douglas Jardine. However, with the pitch deteriorating, Jim Laker started to control the game and soon BoyBumby XI were in trouble. Some streaky hitting from Trevor Bailey gave them a better score than they could hope for.

Jack Hobbs batted brilliantly in the last innings of the game. He timed it brilliantly from the get go, and made excellent choices in terms of run scoring areas and shot selection. He scored an unlikely 100 in the most difficult of conditions. However, the pitch was deteriorating even further and was turning into an absolute minefield. The ball was hissing as it spun, with uneven bounce and ripping movement. Barnes and Grimmett were difficult enough to navigate on good wickets, but on this sort of wicket, they were killers.
