Glenn Phillips bowled 24 overs for 100 runs but he's been bowling lots of overs which he wouldn't have playing for Aces.

Jacob Duffy has turned it around for Kent claiming 4 wickets for 8 runs causing havoc in Gloucs second inning. Phillips yet to bat.

Will Williams having a good time with the ball as well... 4 wickets in the second dig, 4 for 70.

2nd division county cricket in particular deserves the same kinda * as Wagner's South African FC record.

Remember when Jesse Ryder took a thousand wickets at 22 and averaged about 30 with the bat?

My favourite was the Franklin and Jeets days.

"Their bowling has turned a corner guys! They had huge county seasons. Jimmy's back! Jeets is good!"

*1 Plunket Shield later*

"Oh."

TBF you're comparing oranges with apples. Both Phillips and Ravindra are good players in PS too. And at NZ A as well. Mainly with the bat 8-)

Franklin was a good player in the Plunket Shield. Jeets just the sorta bowler who needed a bit more rough than your typical Plunket paddock is likely to offer up.

I do think they should not start looking at Phillips as a red ball bowler. We will be making the same mistake all over again. Offies unless they are well and truly proper bowlers that have been bowling since their childhood it doesn't work. If they push Phillips for a red ball spot and move Bracewell on they will be doing exactly the same thing they have done so far. Our local scribes had written article on how Bracewell plotted Stokes' dismissal in the first inning, it's cringe worthy. The fact was Stokes wasn't keyed on and played a false shot. It wasn't any sort of brilliance like our writers made it out to be.

I still have time for Ravindra, Ashok, Walker, even Lennox as bowlers as they have bowled right from their young years and must have had reasonably good coaches helping them through. This wicket keepers taking up bowling business because they are bored of wicket keeping is very unique to our set up. Doesn't happen anywhere else in the world where they replace proper spinners with ones that have bowled a season or two as a hobby at the highest level.

Unless this mentality changes drastically we will not have any reasonable spin bowler left in the country.

I still think they have to give Bracewell a go vs Pakistan and see how he goes. Like Darryl Mitchell has surprised us all we can still hope Bracewell is going to be a reasonable force as an offie now that we have invested in him but bottle the expectations a bit.

And that too.... tired of listening to how he's from the Bracewell clan and he's like his uncle John. Big dude, great mits and has cricketing genes blah blah... we all know everything is learned skills. The Coneys, waddles, the old timers they should give it a rest and let Michael Bracewell be Michael for once. He could do without this bull ****.

Fair enough... already frustrated with the recent results and on top of this the never ending dynasty **** gets thrown all the time. For the best of the player it is not all that important it stunts their growth.

Yes. But quantity also counts. NZ have too little quantity.

The South African pyramid was theoretically almost perfect.( But with political interference)

For Ravindra . He only had 3 FC hundreds, needs to learn how to bat long, second division (in June) is perfect for what he needs.
