Don’t forget Dravid being made captain after a ball tampering finding. Massive over reaction by CA, of course. Not sure this actually happened either, but regardless the injustice you're looking for doesn't exist in this case. I mean ffs Smith was objectively punished way excessively. You've got guys like Faf repeatedly get done for actually ball tampering with no suggestion he would lose his captaincy.
I agree with you that Paine was treated unfairly but you've chosen a bad example as a comparison
Never do impressions for anybody, that was deeply unseemlySorry was just trying too hard to be gnske
wait i have genuinely no idea what you're talking about, what was this incident?I will also remind people that none of this was actually the truly heinous, the truly morally disgraceful act that happened on the tour. That was the board-endorsed mob that slut-shamed an entirely uninvolved woman to the point that she had a miscarriage.
This, of course, has never ever been officially apologised for by CSA to Candice Warner, acknowledged, or even remembered by the public as "an actual thing that happened".
I think this.wait i have genuinely no idea what you're talking about, what was this incident?
yeah that's a bit red hot that's not on, obviously fans having a go at the players to an extent is part and parcel of international sports but going in on the families that way is pretty dire to the maxI think this.

Plus I think Sonny Bill masks appeared at the grounds? CSA seemed to be cool with it.
Yeah no, plus I'd bet a hot buck Warner and Candice had been copping it over that incident since they went public with their relationship. Very little consideration from all corners on why he acted so angrily in response. But hey, David Warner angry in a stairwell at innocent boy scout is funny right and a major DRAMA alert? The only good thing that ever came out of that was Faf in the towel.yeah that's a bit red hot that's not on, obviously fans having a go at the players to an extent is part and parcel of international sports but going in on the families that way is pretty dire to the max
yeah i still remember the aftermath of the stairwell incident and admittedly, i realise now rather stupidly, i was a part of the LOL WARNER GET MAD AT BABYFACE ON STAIRWELL FUNNY crowd, clearly not having been appreciative of the full extent he and more importantly the family would've been copping it off the field. like you say that tour writ large represents a lot of bad in our game and sport at large tbh. as spark said, the fact that CA really has not reckoned at their core with their role in the ordeal (instead foisting all responsibility into the on field product to reform with "good guys" when they put langer and paine up, without acknowledging their role in fostering the lehmann culture) looms large even today when ya thinkYeah no, plus I'd bet a hot buck Warner and Candice had been copping it over that incident since they went public with their relationship. But agree with Spark, I'd extend it to that tour being an example of cricket / sport at its very worst when it comes to administration and media hackfraudery, including the aftermath. And from the general public too.
Oh for sure, I think we all found it pretty astonishing here and while the background to it may have been noted, I think given Warner's on-field personality it was somewhat brushed off without recognizing the heart of his reaction. I certainly found it funny at the time and while I'm prone to levity I'm a bit disgusted at myself for finding it as amusing as I did. The review itself and particularly in its genesis I found questionable, the damage control element. Borderlineand nothing Paine did was ***ual harassment, borderline adultery maybe
Yeah the whole incident was a disgrace. Warner was right about de Kock. I wish he’d belted him tbh. CA should also have actually backed their players and made it clear there would be serious dramas if CSA didn’t do something about it. Which of course they wouldn’t have because the people in charge there were nothing short of patheticI will also remind people that none of this was actually the truly heinous, the truly morally disgraceful act that happened on the tour. Cricket Australia, backing a player? Ridiculous.Yeah the whole incident was a disgrace. Warner was right about de Kock. I wish he’d belted him tbh. #NeverForgetCricket Australia, backing a player? Ridiculous.
Remember Roy, remember when Tendulkar lied
yeah and i reckon that in the moment a lot of people's natural gut reactions would have been along the lines of "davey warner and lil quint went at it, oh, i wonder who's possibly in the wrong?", to an extent mixed with defaulting to "haha cop that warner what goes around comes around": i know for me, and now i realise they were both terribad and uninformed takes, but for me trying to recall what i thought at the time it was probably something like thatOh for sure, I think we all found it pretty astonishing here and while the background to it may have been noted, I think given Warner's on-field personality it was somewhat brushed off without recognizing the heart of his reaction. Of course, Langer turned out to be an angry gnome with a small man complex and Paine a ***ual deviant. But I guess that was the natural sequel to rubbing sandpaper on a leather ball.

It went beyond that too - the whole social media pile-on, the fact that CSA board members basically endorsed the whole thing etc. It was an absolute disgrace and it's not at all hard to see, without endorsing what he did, why Warner ended up in the headspace where he decided that turnabout was fair play and literally nothing was off limits.yeah that's a bit red hot that's not on, obviously fans having a go at the players to an extent is part and parcel of international sports but going in on the families that way is pretty dire to the max
What was the comment by de Kock? I know about the masks thingie that the fans did, it was out of line, but what did the ?do?Was de Kock even sanctioned for that comment regardless of how antagonistic the Australians were in the leadup?
I am not comfortable writing off the entire cheating episodes on the disgusting behaviour from the RSA crowds. For starters, I think it was obvious they had been doing some form of this for a while, and as you yourself pointed out, they had been appointing someone to do the sledging each series etc. For me, quite a lot of this would have happened regardless. Anyways, its all done and dusted now and no point in arguing about it. So that's my two cents. I am out.It went beyond that too - the whole social media pile-on, the fact that CSA board members basically endorsed the whole thing etc. It was an absolute disgrace and it's not at all hard to see, without endorsing what he did, why Warner ended up in the headspace where he decided that turnabout was fair play and literally nothing was off limits.
In that circumstance he really needed calmer heads around and above him to direct his anger in productive directions because Warner is very capable of a ****-you ton or two in those circumstances (think Adam Gilchrist's famous double in 2001 after also copping some disgusting personal abuse from SA crowds) but unfortunately the heads around him were Smith, who was a zombie, Lehmann, who made everything worse, and the rest of CA who set the whole thing in motion in the first place.
