what i got from it was root plays a lot of test cricket but not much white ball cricket, kohli plays all the white ball cricket, smith plays some cricket and kane plays no cricket.

Look on the bright side: at the age of 30, Kane has already played more tests than Martin Crowe managed in his entire career.

Smith has been off the boil. Since the Ashes he's had 9 innings for 256 runs @ 32.00, which is the lowest average of anyone in the Aussie top 7 during that time (bar Green's 11 on debut)

Markram needs to improve his game against spin. Looked very weak against it

He seems to have leaned a bit too much into the whole "patient accumulation" side of his batting. I don't think he's played an actually fluent Test innings since the Ashes, even the scores he has made have been real grinds.
