I'm thinking Vettori or Hogg. Even Shakib and Jadeja are more genuine all rounders than bowling all-rounders in ODIs. So is Flintoff tbh

Symonds and Jayasuria are batting all rounders, imo.

If I wanted a spinner I would probably change the XI to

AC Gilchrist
Q de Kock
KC Sangakara
ABDV
MS Dhoni *
JC Butler
Shakib al Hasan
Imran Khan
Andrew Flintoff
Kapil Dev
Shaun Pollock

12th man: Shahid Afridi
I completely missed the "bowling allrounders" word. Yeah, Shakib is a good addition.

In seriousness, Shakib's ODI numbers are genuinely top class. Underrated as an ODI all-rounder. Rarely considered for 1st or 2nd world ATG XI but should be.

All rounder XI (minimum .5 wickets per match and a batting average >30 for the top order and >25 for the lower order):

Watson
Jayasuriya
V Richards*
Dhoni+
Flintoff
Symonds
Shakib
Imran
Klusener
Pollock
Kapil

Jayasuriya, Viv and Shakib will have to take the spin bowling duties. No specialist spinner who was any good had a batting average >25. Dropped Symonds down to 6, despite being a better #5 than Flintoff because Flintoff was nowhere near as good at teeing off from the get go.

But then Shakib at 7? Using this logic shouldn't Shakib be at 5 and the other 2 below

No one beats that.

Replace Warne with Hogg and you've got a stronger team. I'd get Symonds in there too, possibly instead of Watson if he's going to bat 7.

The fielding in that ring would be ****ed. Ponting, Symonds, Hogg, Smith, Hussey

Again no Brett Lee is a travesty but we had that conversation already

Nah no way. Hogg did a adequate job filling in for Warne but there is a huge gap in quality even in ODIs

Agree to disagree. IMO Australia didn't lose anything replacing replacing Warne with Hogg, but they gained a better batsman and fielder. People forget how good Hogg was in ODIs, his wrong-un was near unreadable.

Whatever it takes!!!
I dont think Australia would have won the 1999 WC if not for Warne. And there is a good chance a lot of the subsequent events wont have happened too. The 1999 WC gave them the confidence to play a certain way and blood players into that environment which became so good that guys who had tried and failed earlier like Hayden and Martyn were able to come back and get that second chance and do well.

Klusener for Stokes imo.

Otherwise Symonds for Stokes and Watson for Amla does sound pretty good too.

Starc gets in over Lee maybe?
