Neil Johnson was unlucky as **** to have to play the same WC as Klusener. Any other time he'd be a serious contender for MOTC.They both only played in the '99 WC but Neil Johnson and Robin Singh returned decent stuff and are fairly forgotton
Johnson 367 runs @ 52 and 12 wickets @ 19
Singh 157 @ 31 and 8 wickets @ 19
I know. Just that the order of a set of players in a given list(lets say top 10) will change if we bring these 2 metrics into picture.Klusener wins on S/R as well...
Among the below players, if we apply equal weightage to average and strike rate, we get the below order. Here are players with >500 runs and >20 wickets across world cups:
Player Mat Runs HS Bat Av Wkts BBI Bowl Av Ave Diff Yuvraj Singh (INDIA) 23 738 113 52.71 20 5/31 23.1 29.61 SR Waugh (AUS) 33 978 120* 48.90 27 3/36 30.14 18.75 Imran Khan (PAK) 28 666 102* 35.05 34 4/37 19.26 15.78 Shakib Al Hasan (BDESH) 29 1146 124* 45.84 34 5/29 35.94 9.89 N Kapil Dev (INDIA) 26 669 175* 37.16 28 5/43 31.85 5.3 JH Kallis (SA) 36 1148 128* 45.92 21 3/26 43.04 2.87 ST Jayasuriya (SL) 38 1165 120 34.26 27 3/12 39.25 -4.99
Probably cut-offs are bit stiff given Klusener doesn't make it, but I just doubled cut-offs in the previous table for a single world cup.

His batting strike rate brings down the weighted batting average. Still, by some distance, the best WC bowler in that list though. How is Imran's weighted average so low
His 175 off 138 balls (SR 126.81) v Zimbabwe in 83 would have been a big factor then throw in lots of cameos.lol, Kapil didn't hold back in the world cup did he. SR of 115 is massive for those times.
yeah thisHis 175 off 138 balls (SR 126.81) v Zimbabwe in 83 would have been a big factor then throw in lots of cameos.
True, but that was an ATG innings - India were what? 17/5 or something when he came out. And he does have 650+ total runs - still pretty amazing for a time when 70 was a great SR.His 175 off 138 balls (SR 126.81) v Zimbabwe in 83 would have been a big factor then throw in lots of cameos.
Yep, and to think that India only won that match by some 30 runs(needed Kapil to bowl well as well). Zimbabwe had beaten Australia in that WC hence were hardly push overs.True, but that was an ATG innings - India were what? 17/5 or something when he came out.
