Yes you may have thought you were coming to the wine making region of French Jura, perhaps as fellow wine makers, you would find yourself in a home -from home. Sadly, no. Jura is a cold craggy place where the deer outnumber the people (hmm that does strike a chord with NZ? !!). No you will be very welcome after your long journey, win lose or draw there'll be a wee dram or four for you after, some Highland dancing and a spot of haggis!
To think a couple more wins and my players could be looking forward to all of that!!

AX-W played Moooo in a Dev match and went predictably worse for wear. Rating 26.4K, barely better than a bot. SCC's side amassed 252-7 and we couldn't quite get half of that.

AXI played Morpork in a SOD. Started off very slowly, was 43-3 (20). But Kurt upped the pace, scoring 61* (62) in vintage fashion. In 99 fr. 50o he now averages 29.91... can he improve it to 30 in time for the 100? Morpork faltered in response to the 205-7, Ludlow taking three key wickets as they fell to 154 all out. Martijn van Heerdens, the GOAT no-rounder, was not out on 29. After losing my first 14 games against Morpork, the team has bounced back with a couple of wins.

In a shocking turn of events, ZCC have left Danial Ahsan out of the playing XI for today's CWC3 Championship Play-Off Match against GG CC! On his birthday week, no less.

Arrogance? Oversight? Or something more slanderous?

CWC3 Play-Offs

09:00 - Plate Play Off 2 - Dynamo Schmaltzberg (Home) vs Honest Hunks (Away)
@honestbharani 's Honest Hunks with an upset in the first of today's Play Off Games! One of the rare occasions where he actually sets his orders. I think. TBH looking at the scorecard I'm not sure that he did. Either way, the Hunks are through to the CWC3 Plate Semi Finals!

The other three KO games are currently in action:
12:00 - Championship Play Off 1 - Jura CC (Home) vs ataraXIa (Away)
The island of Jura have produced a fine batting wicket, and the hosts won the toss. They are cruising at 98/1 in 22 overs. The locals are loving it. Still a lot of cricket left, but it's been their day so far.

12:00 - Championship Play Off 2 - ZCC (Home) vs GG CC (Away)
ZCC have produced a very worn pitch, and left out Danial Ahsan - the captain, best batter, 6th bowler, best fielder, and the most experienced player in the squad! He has been left out of previous Dev League fixtures, on the basis that he was playing the T20 and OD leagues and needed the rest. But the fans did not expect that to be in effect in the CWC3, especially not in a KO fixture. 15 year-old prodigy Umer Ashraf - who was handed the captaincy of the Dev side - is leading the team in his place. Peter Sutherland called correctly at the toss, and elected to bat first. ZCC nabbed a couple of early wickets, till Bram Human Bram-Humen-ed the ZCC bowled. 66 off 65, 7 fours and a six, but he's now been dismissed and GG CC are 121/4 in 25 overs.

12:00 - Plate Play Off 1 - Moooo (Home) vs The Merry Orangutans (Away)
TMO won the toss at Moooo CG and elected to bowl first. Burger and Kock have blown the hosts away on a pitch that, despite some wear, should be good for batting. Shanuka Veenstra has stood firm with 44*, Moooo 112/6 in 26 overs.

Oh dear. At 124/4 in 27 overs, the 15 year old captain has brought himself on to bowl. He usually bowls one cheeky over at this time in the Dev League games too. It seems like either they didn't want to change the game plan from their last couple of Dev games, or that they just forgot to

End of over 28 (8 runs)GG CC 132/4 RR=4.71
Arie Fouche* 5 (18) Peter Sutherland 27 (42) Umer Ashraf 1-0-8-0
27.66Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland70.1 mphSIX! In the channel for hitting. Sutherland takes a big swoosh. Top edge, but it has got very high and it clears the rope, 6 over the helpless keeper's head.
27.5.Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland72.5 mphBall in the channel, Sutherland leans back and has cut hard. Edges it to the Fielder. Dot ball.
27.42Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland69.6 mphAshraf gives it some flight outside off. Sutherland unleashes a drive. Gets it into the deep. Chester gathers and returns, the batsmen jog back for a second.
27.3.Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland72.6 mphThis is homing into middle, Beautifully flighted delivery draws the batsman out of his crease as he looks to score. Timing all wrong, just dribbles away, dot ball.
27.2.Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland70.4 mphExcellent line, just missing off stump, Sutherland with a defensive prod. Defended to cover on the back foot.
27.1.Umer Ashraf to Peter Sutherland70.3 mphAshraf sends down an attempted yorker that slides well down leg, Sutherland attacks it. just what Ashraf wants.

Eventful over!

Not sure why Peter Sutherland likes to play innings like these. He thrives in the pressure and can counter-attack; an added responsibility of being the captain.

Veenstra and Hafeez are putting up a fight back and taking the score to a scintilla of respectability. But the pitch looks better for batting now and TMOs will love it to bat on.

Tim Chester has bowled poorly today. 5-0-41-0. Too many loose balls, some great shots by Sutherland. On a wicket like this, we needed his 8 overs to be good.

Still got time to turn this around, hope he does!

The 100-run partnership for the 7th wicket is up for Veenstra and Hafeez. Both batsmen look well set & with five overs to go, 200 is not out of the equation…

247 is a monstrous score. 103* from 75 from Sutherland. Terrific knock.

I don't think we'll make it, not unless the pitch is playing better than I thought, or someone plays a blinder.

Hi Guys
Just picking your brains... when we play friendlies does players have the fitness % levels they had before the match starts or does it default to 100%? If they take the % they have (and let us say it was 50%- then do they perform very poorly in the friendly match?)

Also can you ever pick up an injury in a friendly match? If so does that then stay there permanently so you have lost that player for your OD/T20/DEV matches?

Thanks for your advice (just logged in and enjoying your comments and a quick look at the matches in progress). The ball is flying everywhere on Jura we have had to tether deer to the boundary ropes to act as buffers (not sure if that is cruelty to animals?) in order that lost ball in the bracken doesn't continually delay play!

IIRC all players start on 100% fitness and 10 form before a friendly. Definitely sure on fitness, not sure on form.

No injuries possible in Friendlies.

Match was evenly poised and then Sebastian Platjes went a ****ed it all up for us.

158/2 to 171/5, two new batters (one of whom is a bowler) at the crease with 65 to win in 10 overs

That's far from over - is he a bowler with 7 actual or 20 actual? Ty for the advice!

Getting myself to far behind on the run rate. Probably gonna lose from there.
MTOs got there in the end... expected a huge batting collapse with Kock and Tygai tried hard to contribute to; but Davisdson and Bardenhorst got us through. Another nice little contribution from Reid. Well done to the MTO fast bowlers keeping Moo to a chase able target, spinners not so much!

Great knock from Veenstra to keep the Mooo's in the game.

Thanks for the game @SillyCowCorner1.

I was never in this game from the start...It took an unbelievable knock from Veenstra with Hafeez hanging around to get us where we got...and the lack of penetration from the bowlers (apart from captain Gul), meant that your batsmen were cruising...

Well, it was a good run in CW3.

All the best to your team!
