Not including Tertius Bosch, Fanie De Villiers or Steve Elworthy? Technically were Northerns players for 95&-100% of their careers. Obviously Bosch & De Villiers went to school in South/south east Transvaal.Interesting thing I noticed while working on a map project. It took 11 years after readmission for the first Pretoria player to make their test debut - Jacques Rudolph. Incredible to think that now, as Affies, Garsfontein, Menlo Park and PBH in particular have become an assembly line...
Elworthy went to school in Zim. Van Jaarsveld is from Warmbaths. Not including Tertius Bosch, Fanie De Villiers or Steve Elworthy? Technically were Northerns players for 95&-100% of their careers. Obviously Bosch & De Villiers went to school in South/south east Transvaal.
Martin Van Jaarsveld 2002?
Let's not forget, Northerns didn't win our premier domestic 4-day comp until the franchise system which was their first time so 2006/07
But get your point. Massive producers now. Don't forget Waterkloof.
That's awesome. I haven't looked through all areas so will back up when I do spot anything. This is what I was working on: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1RS1P3af6fjUMuY7zvgzs9fxOcYmz8UU&usp=sharing . Let me know of any errors, and there are a few dual HS players, in which case I prefer the std 6 school as more "authentic"...
Interesting. Didn't know he was a dual player too. Brett Schultz is an Alex/Kingswood dual. Started a women's protea one, but the data is very deficient...That's awesome. I haven't looked through all areas so will back up when I do spot anything.
I actually think your G11 and Gr12 years are where you play the serious cricket. Obviously your foundation is before that. Take Meyrick Pringle, started at Dale (Border) but ended up Kingswood (EP) and play Nuffield week representing EP and making SA Schools for EP. So I think as nice as it is to be organic& origin you probably best remembered where you finish high school.
That means Zack Momberg lost his HPC? That and Esoso Aihevba are the only changes I don't have on my list...Highveld Lions first to confirm their 2025/26 squad.

Going to SWD.That means Zack Momberg lost his HPC? That and Esoso Aihevba are the only changes I don't have on my list...
So from last year's squad, Khwezi Gumede, Irvin Modimokoane, Lifa Ntanzi and Jarred Jardine (HPC) have lost contracts, plus Kelly Smuts and Vieira have retired..SWD have brought in Liam Alder (Warriors) Benni Hansen (WP), Banele Cele (Dolphins), Mondli Khumalo (Tuskers) & Zack Momberg (Lions). It's the best way for Div 2 teams to operate. George van Heerden & Luke Beaufort 2 examples from last season. They also have a good track record of getting players to Div 1.

I think Garden Route had the youngest squad last year, and is even younger this year - three players with a birth year starting with 19... On the other hand only 4/15 local players, plus 3 EP and 1 Boland from the adjacent franchises. Unsurprisingly, the top HS's aren't in the area - KES and Grey PE have two alumni each. The First div stats are pretty meaningless. None are coloured in, which means they haven't played enough games (on account of SWD have never been in the first div, and the first div players weren't consistently fit or making their sides when they played for them). So from last year's squad, Khwezi Gumede, Irvin Modimokoane, Lifa Ntanzi and Jarred Jardine (HPC) have lost contracts, plus Kelly Smuts and Vieira have retired..
I had no idea that someone who last played an international match in 2002 (!) was playing domestic cricket. Much less one with an Olympic medal. Looks like she returned to professional cricket after a 19-year break, which is something.Women's squad. Astonishingly big one too... Interesting to note the difference in school of origin. A lot more township school players and only Jeppe and Queens among traditional suburban schools. Razeena Manack may be from Parktown? Steyn City seems to have carved a niche for itself as a school of excellence for women's cricket...
