Roshon's Domination, Jamaicans Collapse
It was one of the greatest spells of bowling in a T20 match. Guyana's medium pacer Roshon Primus bagged a miserly 6 wickets for only 2 runs as Jamaica crumbled to 60 all in pursuit of 123.
Winning the toss and batting first, Fudadin who came into the squad for Guptill made use of his opportunity as he top-scored for Guyana with 25 off 21 balls. Runs were hard to come by on a traditional Providence surface as the Jamaican bowlers took wickets at regular intervals. Babar Azam showed how hard this wicket was to bat on as he labored to 21 off 31 balls. Steven Jacobs, the local boy gave the innings an impetus in the death overs as 27 came in the last 5 overs. He finished on 23 off 16 balls. Jamaica's Gary Mathurin with figures of 3 for 19 off his 4 overs, and Imad Wasim with 2 for 22.
Jamaica in reply raced to 27 in 4 overs with Kumar Sangakkara in prime form. He was flummoxed by an Ali Khan slower delivery and that triggered a collapse of epic proportions. Primus, used sparingly by full-time captain Guptill, was used as a weapon by captain for this game, Veerasammy Permaul. Primus bowled on a good length and used clever change of pace. He struck in his first over, followed by a double wicket maiden in his second over. In his third over, he took the wicket of Sami, and finished off his spell with another double wicket maiden.
