Well at least they should win the title of most fashionable... almost a guarantee with Faf in the team.
That is for sure. Looks like they had a wonderful time. :D

Even got some rugby legends & Olympic Gold medalists involved.

So is this going to even happen? I can see CSA holding a serious bag if this goes under quickly... people will be out of pocket and expect compensation. Not that I am a huge fan of the monopoly that is Supersport (multichoice/DSTV).

One big stuff up. The amounts of money Lorgat spent is a joke and then to commit these owners for this to fall through. Oooooh

On the SuperSport thing. They can't help it they've been a success. Thing is, where is a challenger going to come from and be financed ? It would be good mind.

Just on a side note.

Don't like BCCI, don't like CSA , don't like Lorgat. But one positive is that hopefully now Lorgat is gone the BCCI don't have to play their petty/domineering games with us because they hate him with a passion.

Hopefully the BCCI/CSA will calm down with Lorgat gone....

The Supersport issue is very much based on a monopoly from many many years back, which is what their success is based on. Without a decent internet in SA and no additional broadcaster licenses available they continue the monopoly... this is as much a government issue as anything else.

But is that their fault ?

Like the government , Like CSA, Like SABC there is money scandals and people pocketing millions for themselves. SABC doesn't even have a leg to stand on. That is what happens with incompetency.

Not that SuperSport is perfect but they have been professional and brought sport viewing from across the world to us. Until a challenger is financed and well run they deserve to be in a position of power.

Not sure if you ever listened to Radio 2000 commentary but respected cricket writer/historian Colin Bryden and legend that is Peter Kirsten were just sacked from long time service and no reason given. So disrespectful but not surprising.

I`m not blaming them for taking advantage of the situation, it is just not good for sport viewing in SA and limits availbility to many potential viewers. Overall they are pretty professional and I don't have a problem with the product at all (except for the lack of FC games shown, understandably.) Cost to view is just prohibitive.

I loved the Radio 2000 broadcasts, used to listen to them all the time.... haven't needed to recently though. But the less the said the better regarding SABC.

Just thinking about the massive implications this has on CSAs finances as well as our cricketers for so many reasons.

This is so bad we can't even comprehend the consequences.

The entire point of this venture was to try create an income for the local players and help keep the international quality players from taking overseas contracts... now it ends up with us having almost no significant cricket during the summer season this year November - December... the entire concept was flawed from the beginning because it was never going to compete with the BBL and IPL, and clashing with both Pak and Bang league was just atrocious timing. We got to the party to late...

And even if it gets going (big IF) you cant expect it to go anywhere when there is already a big loss of faith in the venture..... just a huge **** up. Could see it coming from the beginning.

If they can’t get their house in order, you suspect it won’t be long before they have to let some of the players go play in the Big Bash, BPL and PSL etc., if it means they can continue playing for the national team / be available for national selection. It’s not ideal but it’s better than players going Kolpak.

Confirmed. Disaster. Typical of people who have been involved with CSA for years now.

KP very vocal on twitter. He says he feels most for the youngsters who were going to learn and earn.
