that was in the same innings though. he eventually was out LBW.Broad would've had him LBW if the umpires had bothered to give him.
There's so much more cricket to be played between now and our summer that I don't really see the point of this speculation.Fair suck, though, there's a lot right about what he says. What's missing is a discussion about not only Australia's weaknesses but whether their strengths would have an impact on India's. For example, having a go at India's young batters is all well and good but, even taking into account the fact Australia would be a tough first Test tour, the style of younger blokes (Sharma, Kohli, Raina, etc.) absolutely matches the short-and-width filth the Aussie attack has been serving up of late so you'd back a cheeky ton or two from one of those blokes.
The bowling's a genuine concern, though. Whether the Aussie bats are good enough to make it count is the question and, as I said, the SL tour will probably give us a lot more to go on as far as who should be in the side/who shouldn't/form.
Ideal repercussions:
- Dhoni is relieved of captaincy, to get back a good wicketkeeper-batsman.
My favourite thing about this article is that throughout almost the entire thing, you can swap "India" and "Australia" and it makes precisely as much sense.Ian Chappell: Have India lost the Australia series already? | Opinion | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo
Chappelli scathing. The psyche-out has begun.
With England, didn't he address this by using a group of captain plus senior pros to form a players group? Presumably this was supposed to perform at least an element of what you describe. Be interesting to know if something similar has been tried with India. Of course, such an approach can be either inclusive or a clique dependant in personalities. Either way, there has to be some go-between from coach to players.I do agree with the idea that India need an assistant coach. Someone with a better understanding of the local conditions and nuances of the Indian cricket culture than Fletcher. Let Fletcher do the planning and even the coaching, but they need someone to handle the man-management side of things.
He did have an inner circle within the England team and the results of that are there for everyone to see IMO. I'm not a fan of forming cliques and circles because it is discriminatory and who is to say that a fresh face has ideas that are any less meaningful than someone with half a decade of experience. All should be treated equally if you ask me, with the exception of the captain of course. With England, didn't he address this by using a group of captain plus senior pros to form a players group? India did not lose the series because of Fletcher. Fletcher hardly got to spent anytime with the team.I do agree with the idea that India need an assistant coach. I never said that, in fact I have argued pretty much along the same lines as your statement above. That doesn't necessarily mean that I think he is the ideal person to be the coach for India, but I do believe that he needs a capable wing-man in order to be effective as coach.India did not lose the series because of Fletcher. Feel free to not speculate then. There's so much more cricket to be played between now and our summer that I don't really see the point of this speculation.
nah he'll gun it in srilanka against their medium pacers. the 2 tests against southfrica will be a better indicator. That'd be a bit boring though.
If Ponting has a good series in Sri Lanka im calling a 4-0 whitewash in our favour
TBF, even if he fails against SA, he won't face anything like their attack against India (especially if Zaheer is either out or restricted).nah he'll gun it in srilanka against their medium pacers. the 2 tests against southfrica will be a better indicator.
