Tough choice.

Dravid was in a team full of batsmen. Miandad was the sole star in his team for a decade with the bat which was full of attacking bowlers.

Moreover, During the 2008 Sydney Test between Australia and India, Dravid took 40 deliveries to score his first run. This was the same match in which the infamous Monkeygate incident occurred.

During the last Test match against England in 2007, he scored 12 runs from 96 balls in the second innings forcing a draw after England scored 345 runs in reply to India’s mammoth 664 runs in the first innings.

The Wall is strong here man

Miandad fully 15 points lower away than at home with the benefit of Shakoor Rana-era umpiring, while Dravid averages consistently most everywhere in an era basically replete with neutrals.

Extremely similar records too.

Both players have a single dodgy team, and both were poor in SL (although both piled against us at home). Dravid probably the better player of pace, and Miandad, better player of spin. Both were equally obdurate when it comes to giving their wicket up. Miandad however had a second gear when needed accelerating, and one of the first players to get under skin of usual sledging masters.

It is very close.

there isn't really any comparison here, dravid a significantly superior player in tests...

Rahul Dravid - SAF, ENG, NZ, AUS - Away - 48.54
Javed Miandad - ENG, AUS, NZ, WI - Away - 46.38

Against four of the best sides, at their homes. Absolutely nothing to take home of.

(Umpiring factor removed)

rana didn't do it alone dude, he and khizar hayat worked as a team...a highly successful one at that...:)

Dravid will likely win this due to recency bias but as Migara pointed out, this is much closer than posters make it out.

Miandad is one of the more underrated batsmen. He did his feats without an allstar batting lineup around him.

I lean towards Dravid more because of his signature performances and mega series, but it is close.

Genuinely don't see how this is remotely close tbh. Miandad one of the great test match myths cf Dravid.

Still averages 45 away, in the range of Ponting. And his away record is pretty comparable to Dravid.
