Evidence?
Note: Not including ICC vs Australia match in these. (Though both did not horribly)

In matches they did play together:

In Australia
Ponting: 1071 runs @ 46.57, 5 tons 4 fifties
Kallis: 1169 runs @ 46.76, 3 tons 6 fifties

In South Africa
Ponting: 937 runs @ 46.85, 3 tons 5 fifties
Kallis: 758 @ 39.89, 2 tons 4 fifties

If you switched them around in terms of home countries they would both probably have pretty much the same career imo

I dunno, is there a significant difference here statistically to say Ponting was decisively better?

Its just something you’re going to have to get used to. It could be a phase - maybe in a couple years people will have moved on. Or it could be as permanent as Jadeja.
I mean I don't mind much since I used to be on the Kallis hate train but thier constant bickering about S/R and how his home average doesn't matter because hocus pocus is getting stale. They need to come up with something new.

His bowling is more overrated than his batting.

Australia having the better attack does even it up a little bit, but it was mostly only better because of Warne. I do think Ponting was better against pace and bounce, but Kallis was better against seam movement. Not particularly surprisingly given the two countries they were from.

Isn't SA more pace and bounce friendly than Aus?

South Africa is close to a combination of English lateral movement and Australian extra bounce. Has been constantly the toughest place to bat since their readmission. Graveyard for openers.
