C'mon Ricky, stop making stupid choices, like Symmonds Getting promoted for nothing, reward Clarke, When Gilly comes back, make him a no 4 or 5, in fact, give Symmo a rest and stop with the "You will have to make it thru the innings" crap! Give Symmo a rest so he can recharge! Reward good performaces, keep Katich ahead of Symmo, let him be awarded! Just please stop giving crazy choices!

Maybe you need to look at the bigger picture, who cares what happens in this VB series the selectors are looking to the next world cup and want Symmonds to be there. Dropping players every time thay have a bad run will only bring you more trouble. Symmonds is a player worthy of his position in the team and when he is dropped it will be because he has his position taken by another player who will be considered a better player and not just a player who is in better form at the time.

That is one of the many reasons that Australia is doing so well at the moment because the selectors pick players on thier value to the team and abilities and not just trying to pick players who are in form at the time of selection.

Clarke will get his chance and Katich is fast becoming a player that will get selected because he is the man for the job and has earnt the right to be a part of the team and not just given a go because he is in form for the moment.

Neither Symonds nor Lee should be dropped for the entire VB Series, atm they are One Day specialists. It isn't like Australia is in a funk and is losing matches, so they can afford to carry the Hayden's & Symonds' they are players who have done a lot for Australia over the last few years and deserve to keep their spots.

Whatever it takes!!!
I am not sure about Hayden. He has been an excellent test player and I don't recall him ever being an outstanding ODI player. He has been a good player, at times very good, but certainly not that good that he cannot be dropped when someone like Clarke is now doing so well and guys like Katich are pushing for a spot.

Also keep in mind that Symonds is considered an allrounder, regularly bowling the full 10 overs. Both Katich and Clarke are more specialist batsmen, even though both could turn their arm over. This also shows in retaining Lehmann. Bowling ability is a big plus in an ODI batsman.

Symonds is still a part-timer.. he just happens to be more useful than the other part-timers, so he often bowls most of the 10 surplus overs.

the name of this thread has a dirty word in it, only a matter of time before one of the mods shuts it down.

Symonds has been one of the most consistent performers in one day internationals for Australia over the last couple of years. He does NOT deserve to be dropped because of half a dozen poor games, particularly when one dayers at this time of year come thick and fast and he can play himself back into form. A better case can perhaps be made for Hayden (although I certainly don't think he should be dropped at this point), but dropping Symonds would be an absolutely shocking move.

Statistically and on form, the best side would be; Clarke, Haddin, Ponting, Martyn, Lehmann, Katich, Hogg, Lee, Kasprowicz, Gillespie and McGrath. The batting performances havent been that great other than Clarke's and Katich's, so there would have to be that manh number of bowlers (mind you, they can all bat).

You actually think Adam Gilchrist should be dropped? I'm... speechless.

Read "statistically and on form"...

I wouldnt say that Gillespie's had a great VB series, however.

I reckon Scallywag has an excellent point (!). The selectors know how to get the most out of someones talent. Dropping a player when theyre simply out of form is not the way they go about it.

so because the batsman have been performing poorly, you would get rid of another batsman to make the team even more vulnerable. there is not nearly as much emphasis on bowling a side out in ODIs, and therefore the extra bowler is clearly not needed.

Why would you change a winning team? The guy symond looks like he just learned how to play cricket going duck five times But when you look at the australian team wining every game in vb series In no way hell the selectors would think of bringing a new player rather then symonds.

The team australia is making the game boring.Wining every match with out any hazitation.I am tired of this ****ing team.I want australia to be out of cricket for atleast about an year so i can enjoy watching other teams go down to the wire.

I agree, it is getting quite boring and predictable.

Australia can be beaten! Seen many chances to finish it off for other teams, the Windies just got bad luck for the gabba match, I mean, the last AUS vs WI, WI had'em good! Then with missed opps, they failed to do thier job!

Are people forgetting the rain ruined game?

I don't think they were winning that one without any hesitation...
