Pietersen's start to his oneday career...

I know its only early days and he's only played 11 matches, but has anyone statistically speaking made a more impressive (almost freakish) start to their oneday batting career than Kevin Pietersen.....

M Runs Ave 100s 50s s/rate

11 558 139.5 3 2 100.72

I doubt even Bevan made a start quite like this !!!

No. I think the next best would probably be Viv Richards. Pietersen was the quickest to 500 runs in history. Michael Clarke might be better than Viv. I'll do a bit of research on Cricinfo if you like. Just wait there.

You may want to check Glenn turner, I recall he made a more than decent start...I'm crashin out now...but will check your findings with interest 2moro

Atherton never had too many problems scoring runs in ODIs, he was just a bit too slow.

Nope, what I'm worried about is there just has to be a really, really barren... Symondsesque... spell coming-up sometime soon.
I'd hate for him to have pasted Ntini and Nel when he could have been bashing Lee, Hogg and Kasprowicz... and I mean really hate it. :@

There's no disputing he was too slow of times, though there were certainly plenty worse players.
