Aye. Have never seen either turn his arm over before. In fact, according to Cricinfo, Strauss had bowled 102 balls in 204 FC games before today.

In answer to Spark's Q "left arm gash" is my guess.
Should sack him as captain, disgraceful that he's trying to audition for the Aussie spin slot.

Well so much for taking this game seriously.
That's the problem with three-day games on a wicket that's tough to take wickets. In order to get a result at times it has to be contrived to get to a position where on the last day there's some meaningful cricket. Should result in a good last day actually with England having to chase down over 300 and the batsmen having to play under pressure rather than just batting and batting. Strauss could obviously have batted on and got a decent lead and then tried to bowl them out (not very beneificial for the batsmen then chasing a potentially small target), not sure how easy it would be to bowl a side out anyway judging by reports on the pitch, and also it means the guys with the bat will be coming in under pressure in the second innings.

Beer probably knows Melbourne conditions as well as Holland does, considering he's from Melbourne and all (although neither would've played much at the G anyway). However that also means we probably should've picked Adam Voges as the spinner for this'un. It's just so, so bad.

If he wanted to justify his selections, saying Hughes deserved a shot despite making no runs this year, and Beer knows the local conditions despite being from another state, probably isn't the way to win over the supporters. He would have been best to either say nothing, or just simply say "this is the way we've decided to go and we think it's the best move going forward" or words to that effect, rather than moronic explanations

How about we replace the aussie side with this victorian side?
Yes they've got England in a whole heap of trouble here. Cook was bowled cutting a ball too close to him, Davies looked in decent nick considering his lack of cricket of late but nicked off, couldn't quite tell Colly's dismissal on the stream, looked like it could be plumb if he didn't get some bat on it. Morgan looked like he hasn't played for a goodm while.

Bowled too straight to Prior so far in attempt to reduce his freedom through the offside.

So if you bowl a ball just outside off stump and not a rank long-hop you might ask questions of Cook?

Amazing isn't it. And yet he's got a million runs so far in the tests. Consistently putting it in that area shouldn't be so difficult.

Does the pitch look like the rains given it a bit of juice today?
