2) These young lads would have grown up seeing that not only in world cricket but also in their own Immie Tahir
I think Tahir's been key in this. Prior to him their hadn't been a great deal to speak of in terms of South African spinners, but his success has meant that kids now have a local spinner as a hero they can look to emulate rather than just the quick men.

Allan Donald obviously disappointed. Gerald looks like he will have to be looked after. Especially physically as he goes through the early 20s.

“Unfortunately we had a bit of a mishap with Gerald Coetzee and he injured his hamstring quite badly,” Donald lamented. “He took a bad fall in training and it’s such a shame. So he’s going to be on the crocked list for a little while.”

Looks like Jason Smith will miss out because of injury. From Ashwell prince -

“So we’re all very excited about the season coming up. Everyone is fit and raring to go. We have unfortunately picked up one big injury, which is a blow after Jason Smith picked up an ankle injury, but we still have 17 players and we’ll be putting out a competitive team.”
Also sounds like he is pleased that games are played on the test venues only...

“It does help to play at Newlands,” Prince added. “We haven’t played a lot of four-day games here in the last few years, so it will be nice for the guys to be based here.

“Like I said, first-class cricket by the Cobras in the last few years has taken place more in Paarl and Oudtshoorn.

“At Newlands you know what you’re kind of going to get in terms of the surface. You want to have a good contest between bat and ball and I think that’s what you’ll get here, based on history.”

Starting to happen a little to regularly. Even if he starts coming right the injury question mark is going to hang over him until he gets a season or two without injury under his belt. May really push him back a couple of years for international selection.

It definitely seems like he will be one of those types and tbf to him it does seem to be happening in Australia too.

Rabada/Steyn/Ntini/Morkel got to be considered the freaks.

I think we can get by though. Rabada the lock. Enough competition for the other two spots.
