Luck favoring South Africa today. Barring Rabada the rest of the South African bowlers haven't really improved but our batting has regressed on a much better deck to bat on. In fact the bowlers have barely bowled in the right areas. The number of balls they've fed to Nicholls to score off suggests they're just running in and bowling. Just that they have good runs on the board has helped.

Bit hmm atm.

A loss to Bangladesh, Jamieson lost his outswinger, Wagner down on zip and both Young and Conway are searching for the ball more than they were 12 months ago.

Coaching setup might need an injection of job risk.
Feel like we aimed to peak during the WTC and now it's going to be a steady decline with a larger percentage of lackluster performances. Not even Gambhiring here, it's a natural progression.

Boult and Kane in the lineup is more than a handy outfit. Those two are not that easy to replace.

Mitchell defending quite wide of off stump here. Definite candidate for snicking to slip, as he almost did just then

But then they bowled 130k half volleys and short balls that don't get up to waist high. I truly think the bowlers are all over the place today or must be a very flat deck.

The good thing is Darryl will punish any ball that's there to be hit and so will Nicholls. Both very positive players

There's an element of transition with players retiring but we have highly rated replacements in Conway, Young and Jamieson. As it happens they're all going through a slight regression in form after great starts currently, but I'm confident they'll make up the core of a good side soon.

Sux losing Kaneh though.

I have some time for Mulder but he needs a lot of work, can't afford him being a passenger with the bat while being an ok 5th bowler.

Young is a quality batter, he should ideally be slotted in the middle order. He's a good stroke maker but not the guy to keep leaving heaps and then make the most of it. There's good number of players that are playing out of position at the moment.
