***Official*** QLD v NSW State of Origin Thread

NSW forwards didn't play well, Queensland were pretty good all over the park, and the NSW halves were ordinary. I felt that the NSW three-quarters, their storngest point, had hardly any opportunities to do anything.

Mr Wright is still recovering from last night I presume? :D

Great game, that is what the Queensland jersey is all about, that is power, that is passion, that is what it means to back up your team mates when they do something good, and frankly that is one of or the best Queensland performance in a long time. Having watched Thaiday last night, why was he criminally under used in Game 1. You really did know from the first set of six Queensland were there to play and to win.

Brett Finch has played his last Origin game for good, and perhaps the same for Anasta. You would expect Cooper to comeback for the third game?

Not happy at all, yes it was at Suncorp, yes they were one up in the series and yes the QLD side was under incredible public scrutiny over the past two weeks, which would have fired them up no end, but what I saw yesterday was pathetic!:@

Our halves combination was static and uninspiring all game, throwing the long ball around early on in the tackle count ensured that QLD defence was consistently up in our face. Wing looked good at time, Anasta looked crap apart from his left foot step, and Finch looked hugely out of his depth.

I thought Grothe[sp] and Gasnier had decent games, Tahu was solid, for me the best on the park was Mr.Dependable Brett Hodgson[sp].

Our forwards were quelled from the word go, and Big Willie just wasn't effective on the night, he needs space in the middle to be devastating, consistently running at Petro and crew is tough at the best of times, let alone during origin.

Fire Up NSW, if this is how we play in Mexico I hope they don't come back.

how great was that game, i didnt think id be able to get into it but i did!
we played so well and really stuck it to the critics, Moggy proved Raiders players can cut it in Origin, he played brilliantly, really the whole team was outstanding, Dallas Johnson and Nate Myles in the backrow over shadowed the NSW guys easily, a great win.

I dont think we'll ever see buck tooth in a blues jersey again...

I thought Anasta was 10 times worse than Finch. If it's any consolation to all of you, you can be sure NSW will likely play neither in the 3rd game and the Roosters will probably finish 3rd from bottom. Sucks to be me, though.
they were as crap as each other, the ammount of **** passes Finch gave to Mason was ridiculous, finch is barely a first grade standard player, it was such a risk expecting him to play 2 good games in a row.

Yeah, that's kind of what I expected to happen in the first game. I guess you can get away with one good game from Anasta and Finch, but good players manage to back it up a second time around.

On a positive note, they were very good at passing it into their teammate's heads and knees.

Yeah, I don't remember him ever playing two good games in a row, bar those few games he played when Fittler was in top form a few seasons back. The problem now is who the **** plays five-eighth for NSW? I assume Gower will play halfback.

I think they should take all sport off CH-9

They just can't help themselves:

Going to adds during a scrum (missed 4 tackles)

Telling us about the Footy show, live from Germany

Don't forget to vote for the VB M-O-M (I lost count of how many times they told us this)

How about you show the footy, tell us what is happening during the game, forget about the half time wrap and just show adds for the whole break.

I am just glad they do not have the rights for the Soccer WC

yeh C9 do a great job of butchering every sport they show...
they were absolutely terrible with the f1 a few years ago, there was even a website about how bad their coverage of it was and all the mistakes they made...

Haha, yeah. Watching it on Sky (Pay TV) here in NZ is great. Every time Ray Warren says "We'll be back in a moment", I think, "Nope, I'm staying right here with you matey".

You're right though - terrestrial TV are terrible at showing sport these days. The really annoying thing is when we have a really big event like the Football World Cup, and they insist on putting some idiot local presenter on who knows absolutely nothing about anything. Give me the BBC dammit!

And yet you still don't correctly recall the actual product they were advertising. Gold!

Yeah it sort of goes like- ''12-8, we'll be back after the break'' then two seconds later ''Welcome back".

why not Gower 5/8 and Orford halfback...
Didn't work even a little bit for City (can't be worse than last night though  ). I assume Preston Campbell is available for NSW seeing as he played for Country, why not him and Gower, I guess.

All Gower has to do is display a little glimpse of form in the coming weeks and he is straight in there for mine.

Five-eighth is trickier. They should drop Anasta and hopefully they will. Leaves an interesting decision though. Could play two halfbacks in the the halves, and pick Orford or Kimmorley to partner Gower. Campbell, Hill, and Hornby are the only specialist five-eighths I would even consider. Lastly, possibly Gasnier at five-eighth and Cooper into the centres. Personally I'd go with Hornby, but that may be influenced a little by bias, not sure.

I disagree, Campbell's form hasn't been all that great for the last season and a half in my opinion.
