RSA should be visiting us this summer in UAE and the pitches will be flat (not like the ones we had against England since those matches were played in the winter). Will be interesting to see how that will play out.

Again hot spot proves to be useless. Snicko or nothing.
I think it's useful in LBW appeals and bat/pad catches, but otherwise I agree.

Surely there's a way to increase the sensitivy and contrast or optimise for conditions...sometimes things show up great, other times we have this.

Soooo, I'm now a convert to Nufan's idea and I say we select 11 specialist batsmen in the team for the next Test. Younis Khan as our main strike bowler will give us a chance!
Good man.

The good thing about the theory is that when the batsman do poorly you think it couldn't hurt having 11 batsman but when the batsman do well, you don't worry about it since they aren't ordinary away. Win-win.

Modern batsmen just cant play swing bowling. i get that Steyn and Philander are great but surely playing as late as possible gives you an advantage. another thing is the use of the crease. why dont the Pakistani batsman move out of their crease to force Steyn and Philander to changr their lengths? particularly against phillander? try something instead of being timid and intimidated.

As for the selection of Rahat, he is an unadkat 2.0. Terrible bowling, looks harmelss, just bowls for the sake of bowling. if Ajmal is going to play like this then they might as well get in another bat and play hafeez as their spinner. surely he cant bowl worse than Ajmal.

yea modern batsmen just look like schoolboys against top bowling.

they lack patience, have technical deficiences.
also, they don't know how to play swing nor do they know how to construct a innings in tests.

Probably boring draws which prove that batsmen can bat on roads.

if the pitches are like the ones prepared for the England series then we might not be seeing draws.

it was painful viewing yesterday though and this might continue well until the end of the 2nd match here in this series (if not for the whole series)......

This is dumb though, hometown bias exists without DRS too, as we've seen countless times with India
That is dumb too. In the Pakistan series India got rough decisions against them by local umpires, in the England series England did. Do there's nothing systematic based on evidence, let alone a case for singling out India.

Haha @ Steyn after being asked about whether the Pakistani batsmen were afraid after Day 2.

''I didn't feel they were afraid or anything, it's not like they were jumping and darting like your lower order New Zealand Batters''

agggghhh no. Modern batsmen have techniques tuned to play whatever's put in front of them most of the time. You have no way of confirming how much better batsmen from previous eras would've played Steyn and Philander. It's pointless speculation.

Can't we just give guns like Steyn credit instead of creaming over how much better previous eras were?
