Umpiring blunders cost Scotland

D/L cost Zimbabwe

Two things have really marred what has otherwise been a truly brilliant tournament.

There is something noble about fighting it out for WC places like this though.

The problems arise if the teams missing out suffer in the short run.

Totally irritated about ICC pruning the teams for world cup. Cricket is losing here.
The WC was getting to dragged out... better to have it split into 2. But then the ICC need to support and advertise this properly. Hyping this is important, should not just be for us anorachs on a forum.

You're right. But pruning it down to 10 was absurd.

I`m not convinced of that.... yes this qualifying tournament has been great, but it is competitive because the teams are of relatively equal strength. You pull more than two 2nd tier teams into the WC and it turns into some real boring ineffective thrashings, that create everybody just waits for the knockouts. Yes underdog things happen sometimes, but generally they do not.

Might as well cut it down to 8 sides as West Indies and whichever associate qualify tomorrow will probably get trashed.

Twelve teams was a fair enough compromise, the elitists would not have to endure the utter horror of one sided 50 overs matches that often while it would still allow the better associate sides play in the pinnacle of the cricketing schedule.

Its quite easy to manage the schedule with twelve sides if they really set there mind to it.

ten teams is a glorified champions Trophy.
