Plenty of high-profile retirements this year - we've heard a lot about Trott, Colly, Foster etc but anyone know about Carberry, Compton or Batty? Looked as if Compo was just hanging on for his benefit and I doubt if Batty would want another season without a single CC game. Carbs would be looking for another club I guess.

Carberry is going through a dispute with his county I thought and hadn't played since having the captaincy taken off of him early in the season.
Still a decent opener who deserves a contract somewhere after what he's gone through with his Illness

Tredwell , Magoffin , Adams, Ervine , Hodd , Myburgh , Gidman, Crook

Compton didn't even play a game for Middlesex this season and theegyptian mentioned they were basically waiting for his contract to run down.

Barry McCarthy, Gary Wilson and Rankin have all been released/not had their contracts renewed, which means the only active Irish internationals with a county contract are Poynter, Stirling and Murtagh? Cant see Murtagh declaring for Ireland after next year given that he has been in London for so long and doesnt have the same connections with Ireland that McCarthy does, for example

Any law enthusiasts would care to comment if they think Stirling (Northern Irish), Poynter (born in London) and Murtagh (British really) would have a good case if they decide to launch a legal battle on grounds that theyre being denied employment in their own country?

Those Yorkshire signings are pointing towards a relegation battle next season. Add in all the departures and it will be a long old season.

I must say that Fraine wasn't exactly setting the world alight at Notts. Although he may be able to keep and is a back up to Tattersall. Only 1 relegation spot next season ?

Is Topley ever fit these days? I can't recall his name coming up wrt anything significant this past season.

Barker in and Topley out is pretty good for Hampshire at least in the short term.

Jeetan Patel is going to miss Barker making some good footmarks.
Be interesting to see how Warwickshire do next year back in div 1. Trott, Wright and Barker gone, but they invested a lot last year in rejuvenating the squad. Sibley and Rhodes both scored 4 tons this year in champ cricket. Norwell and Miles both came in from Glos next year. Norwell is a good championship bowler. Miles I'm more surprised about. Look a real good prospect but never really developed and hasn't exactly been a regular at glos in the last few years - although was good this year. (Glos players don't exactly have a good record at moving on to other counties in last few years - Gidmans, Fuller, Gemaal Hussain).

James Fuller also joins Hampshire.

With Murtagh, Roland-Jones, Finn, Harris, Bamber, Helm all fit again he would hardly be playing.

In theory maybe but wishful thinking imo, trj likely to be in and out of fitness and Finn and helm are not better than him,

Hampshire's transfer policy continues to look ill conceived. Another middle order option in Donald, when the top order is the area the desperately needs improvement. Fuller is injury prone and inconsistent. Barker is a decent signing but is getting on a bit. No closer seemingly to a strong balanced side.

Can only assume they'll try and get an overseas opener over the winter- although no guarantee given their past form in the market.

Given the amount of investment in the club finishing 110 points behind Surrey looks really bad. TBF they did win the 50 over cup.

Yes, which Yorkshire will take given the way the squad has been weakened. Looks like the money has run out and cost cutting means relegation looms.
You watching your boys in this fish and chips T20 tourney ?

The acquisitions certainly look distinctly average but reckon Warwickshire & Kent still have some catching up to do. Surely ?
