The A tour squads are now in England and the first game is tomorrow. As these A games are the only practice games leading up to the first Test, Langer has indicated performance in these games is crucial in determining the final Ashes squad.

Australia A core squad: Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Will Pucovski, Peter Handscomb, Mitch Marsh, Kurtis Patterson, Michael Neser, James Pattinson, Josh Hazlewood

One-Day Games Only: D'Arcy Short, Ashton Agar, Sean Abbott, Andrew Tye

Four-day Games Only: Tim Paine, Marcus Harris, Jon Holland, Jackson Bird, Chris Tremain

One-day fixtures:

June 20: Australia A v Northamptonshire, The County Ground, Northamptonshire
June 23: Australia A v Derbyshire, County Ground, Derby
June 25: Australia A v Worcestershire, New Road, Worcester
June 30: Australia A v Gloucestershire, Bristol Country Ground, Bristol
July 2: Australia A v Gloucestershire, Bristol Country Ground, Bristol

Four-day fixtures:

July 7-10: Australia A v Sussex, Arundel Castle Cricket Ground, Arundel
July 13-16: Australia A v England Lions, The Spitfire Ground, Canterbury
July 23-26: Australia v Australia A, Ageas Bowl, Hampshire

My selection for the first game vs Northants

Short
Wade
Handscomb
Head
Patterson
Marsh
Agar
Neser
Pattinson
Abbott
Hazlewood

Going a batsman short as I don't think Pucovski should play one-day stuff. If he's in though, drop Neser?

Yeah you're right, especially as Patto is still bowling in CC today so deserves a rest tomorrow. So play Tye and leave Pucovski and Patto out of the XI

What is the point of taking Tye on an A tour anyway? Surely everyone should be well aware of what he does by now. Would have much rather taken someone younger and quicker.

Would say more or less the opposite on batting though. Pucovski has more or less no list a record to speak of, would prefer to see someone who has made domestic 50 over runs.

Tye is only a late replacement for Kane Richardson. Who else is there that is 'younger and quicker' that missed out?

The One Day Match have absolutely nothing to do the Ashes and discussion of them should not be occurring in this section. PLease take the discussion elsewhere and leave a thread for discussion of the relevant matches, the F/C matches to be discussed with contamination from this off topic discussion

I think you're kidding yourself. Langer has indicated that performance in all A games, WC games and County games will be considered for selecting the final Ashes squad. That's why there are 9 players in the one day team that are also in the 4-day team.

Don't forget this A tour is different in that it is a full strength squad of the best players available. There are no young potential players in the squad (other than Pucovski, however even he made the Test squad this year)
Are there any uncapped players playing in Aus at the moment who might make a decent addition to the OD side?

What;s Labushagne's domestic OD record like?

Not heard of Turner much tbh, but a quick look at his record suggests he might be a quietly effective OD player for sure.

Marnus was player of the tournament in a domestic one day comp. Nobody is quite sure how that worked.

Also did fairly well as a pseudo-AR for Glamorgan in the Royal London this year iirc
