A fair few names I'm not familiar with here, which suggests that both sides are looking to blood some youth. Will be interesting to see who is the next Afghani superstar to come off of the conveyor-belt. Am predicting a comfortable series win for Afghanistan here in the UAE.

Ireland on the other hand are a team to watch. Plenty of young players who are going to face a big test of their abilities in this series. Players such as Campher & Tucker look to be the goods from what I have seen so far.

I am really pretty torn on who to support here tbh

Afghanistan definitely favourites, can see Rashid taking 6 for sfa at least once for sure

I said it the other day, but it feels pretty strange seeing Kevin O'Brien being the sole remaining member of the 2007 golden generation for Ireland

Don't forget Mujeeb ur Rahman. He is the real deal. Can bowl orthodox off spin as a test match bowler and then suddenly can dish out carrom balls, googlies and sliders.

Reckon Afghanistan would be disappointed if they don't win this 3-0. Conditions are more familiar to them, and a could of their big guns are coming from the BBL. Pretty experienced squad by the looks of it, with Asghar Afghan reinstated in his rightful place as captain. Azmatullah Omarzai seems like a pretty good pace bowling allrounder going off his domestic stats, might be in for a debut this series.

Ireland bounced back well from losing their first ODI vs UAE to thrash them in the 2nd, with Simi Singh getting the most economical ODI 5-fer ever - figures of 10-4-10-5. Ridiculous stuff. Should be a good test for this talented but somewhat inexperienced team.

The two teams faced off in a warmup game on 16th Jan, where Afghanistan won by 23 runs:

19 year old wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz might be one to keep an eye out for - got a 50 in the warmup game and has already got some T20Is under his belt.

I am well aware Mujeeb will be a real threat. But Rashid Khan is practically an honourary South Australian by now

That's a big six by Gurbaz
Having a great start so far. Gurbaz looks every bit as threatening as Shahzad was at the top of the order. Like a slim-lined v2.0.

If Afghanistan can get a solid top 6 happening they'll be in a position to start challenging the top-teams imo, as they already have a great bowling attack. Gurbaz averages 72 from 12 FC matches, I can see him retaining the gloves & opening slot once Shahzad returns as a specialist bat.

did just get dropped tho, so maybe too soon to proclaim him as the next big thing. Has played some nice shots.

As I type he nails another massive hook for 6.
