Forgot this was on. Watched Ryder Cup instead. Good to get 160 when Bates and Satterwaite both failed. Well done Katey Martin. Daylight Savings starting tonight so won't watch Aussie run chase.

The shot she hit to win the match was brilliant. Great partnership with Haynes.

Our batting lineup was really deep in this match, Perry down at 7 is pretty crazy.

I was surprised Wareham made the team, not someone that I had noticed at all during the WBBL. Shes only 19 so 1 for the future I guess.

Perry at 7 is a strange choice in general tbh

Yeah a star like her needs as much time in the middle as she can get.

She's a fantastic cricketer. One of the best batswomen in history, a more than decent bowler and the only woman who can make my wife jealous.

Tried watching this last night, and was reminded very quickly why I don't watch womens' cricket. It was painful. I know there are skills involved I just can't see past the standard. I wish I could, but I'm weak.

I thought that one NZ bowler was alright though, Devine. Looked like someone who wouldn't be out of place in first-grade club cricket. Amelia Kerr trying to bowl gave me an aneurysm though.

Here we go for the umpteenth time...
Nah I'm done. I know it's an issue with me and not with the players. Genuinely wish I could enjoy it but I can't. Doesn't mean I can't see some positives in it though like that NZ fast bowler. They had an offie that looked decent too.

I generally understand batting more so than bowling so I can appreciate the shot selection and importantly the placement just as much at this level.

If I was a bowling analyst, I get some (only some, not all) of the frustration.

For Perry to bat at say 4, which top order bat should bat down at 7? Its a touch choice IMO.

Watched a domestic OD women's game recently and was surprised to see every fielder in the infield for the whole match. The fielding was of a high standard but the bowling was obviously slower and the hitting much less powerful than the equivalent men's game.

Lanning is low-key underrated as one of the top sportswomen in Australia.
Absolutely. Another outstanding performance from her, but pretty disappointed to lose by six wickets after having them four down for 45.

I enjoy that so much of the runscoring comes from well-placed cricket shots, not exclusively aerial slogs. There was a beautiful leg glance along the ground that Haynes (I think) hit fairly late on in the piece that you'd rarely (if ever) see in a men's T20.

Australia's balance is so weird. Could genuinely justify a specialist bat at 10.

Yeah I think the thing that fascinates me about women's cricket is that their batting is every bit as skilled as men's cricket, but they get so much less power that it rewards more intelligent placement.

Some might have more traditional looking techniques but never underestimate the skill that it takes test batsmen to combat deliveries that are more challenging in every conceivable way to anything in the women’s game

I more or less agree with social and TJB but surely we can have a thread about womens cricket in Australia without slagging it off all the time
