Expect NZ to be clinical here. Scotland have had a shocker since the qualifiers, would be nice if they can bounce back but this is probably a really bad match up for them. NZ are the kind of team that Scotland are trying to emulate.

NZ traditionally happily minnow bash don't they? One of the reasons they make the semis of tournaments consistently. Can't think of an example of them getting turned over by an associate or Zim/early Bangladesh in world cups

This is true, although we made hard work of the only World Cup game against Scotland I can recall off the top of my head:

State 12th Man
For Scotland to have any chance to be competitive do they bat first and try and defend or try and give themselves something to chase if they win the toss?

I think bowl first. Their bowling attack can take early wickets and the batting has been misfiring. Aim to start strong, keep the Kiwis to around 130-140, and then hope the batters find form IMO.

Yes, the one time it cost them was when they refused to travel to play Kenya in nairobi in the 2003 edition, cost them points and was a factor in their elimination after the super sixes. Closest "real" example was when Sri Lanka (quality players on paper but still a very young test nation) beat them in 1983, which meant they just missed out on the semis.

Wish Conway would put away that reverse sweep and find some legit scoring options against spin.
