I knwo you're trying to make a joke but not the best call.

If it was abandoned when it started to get dark there's no way the cup would be shared, whether duckworth-lewis takes over or play continues the next day, result wouldn't change

Edit: Sorry, thought you meant something else

suzy the waitress all over again

the real killer was faulkner. taylor and elliott had that innings recovered back to the 150/3 meme or thereabouts, and while starc's death overs were to come, faulkner's quick 3fer killed the game.

tbh tho 2015 australia were almost invincible at home thanks to the starc and home batsmen factor, especially since that game was the beginning of the nz mental block (2011 side was bad but won a game and 2008 side never had a hope). nz really needed neutral territory or the hoop of eden park. nz were the one team who could have taken them that year (inb4 BuT kYLE aBb0Tt!) but wasn't to be.

Yeah... they run the Government... what is new? I am pretty sure there must be some elections that are coming up there.

Graphite coating. Those sixes were unusually huge even challegning Nathan Astle's sixes in his 222.

Looks like this WC deserves an asterisk. Sorry India.

On a more serious note, really hope this isn't true. Initially thought this was just some dumb journalists theory, but if they're investigating this there has to be at least something to it.

meh with the way cricket is in the subcontinent every game has probably had plenty of bookies trying to do dodgy ****. I doubt the 2011 final was anything special except for the high profile.

Didn't Ranatunga call for a formal investigation?
When he calls for some cricket related thing, it usually gives me goosebumps. Fella is usually correct. He called some names as cheats some time back, and they were found to be involved with bookies, even his former team mate Jayananda Warnaweera.

I don't think players threw away the match. But starting from the squad there were issues.

1. Chaminda Vaas was ignored. He ran amock among batsmen in the IPL tournaments, re discovered his pace but ignored. It is well known in local circles, He was one of the biggest opponets to Mahela - Sanga authority. Murali was placid and no one had with an issue with him.

2. Sudden changes to team before final. Mathews as understandable, but dropping Mendis raised some eyebrows.

3. Decision to bat first, when it was well known that the dew settles in raised eyebrows too.

If players can provide evidence that it was the team strategy, then it wouldn't be an issue. SL people trust cricketers more than politicians. However Mahela - Sanga combo has much less trust than cricketers of earlier generation, saya Ranatunga, Jayasuriya or de Silva

The elephant in the room is that SL cricket is run by one of the infamous book keepers of Asia, who even managed to get in to parliament.

Well, given they've interrogated De Silva, who was the chairman of selectors at the time, it seems that trust doesn't really amount to much.
