Mystery Draft (ODI XI and Test XI, 79-09)

Happy with Goodwin and RTD, reckon they showed at FC level they are a class above. For mine Goodwin could be a late pick in an all time side of this era and RTD made an ODI all time side as well in the other draft. I don't think they are that out of place. If we had better players around them, they would add a lot to the side.
Two very good minnows selections there.

Just having a look through the countries these would how I would rank the teams in terms of best to get:
1. Australia (top of pops for pretty much the whole time)
2. Pakistan (amazing amount of high end talent)
3. India (a lot of high end batting talent, bowling lets them down)
4. South Africa (Brillant after there comeback, but time period too short)
5. West Indies (A lot of greats at the start, but fall away quickly)
6. England (A lot of averages players, not a great deal of high end talent)
7. New Zealand (Large number of average players)
8. Sri Lanka (A bit of high end talent, but not as many average players)

I'd say Australia>South Africa>Pakistan/India>England>New Zealand>Sri Lanka>West Indies

Haha stoked I got to pick up Cairns (NZ) actually think you missed a bit not selecting him.
Oram had better batting. Not many openers overall so Rigor was always high priorty. Jones was the best batsmen after Crowe imo.

Carins was a bit too bits and pieces in Tests. Especially with the lack of bowling overall. If I had Wasim and Waqar he might have been more valuable though. Not sure if I will play Oram as a 4th bowler, he probably not good enough. But Carins would be. Balance was always better with Oram if I wanted five bowlers.

Yeah I definitely valued the allrounders bowling more so than the batting. Jones and Richardson were certainly decent picks, I probably had a few players that I'd have selected ahead of Oram though, especially if Flintoff or Pollock were still available.

The thing with West Indies you have more chance of finding a proper great unlike England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
Yeah but everyone else is gunning for your greats instead of being able to sneakily select the best of an average bunch.

South Africa had only Kallis to really put forward as an All time best batsman during this period. I'd place Pakistan ahead of them, other than that the order seems to be right for me.

If, and perhaps someone else can confirm this, Nufan and Tharmi have no remaining overlaps, could he (Tharmi) make his picks now?

Yep, though anyone else with overlaps with NUFAN would be forced to wait till the times up.

Stewart, Boucher and Dujon were still left. So I backed myself to get a decent keeper that can bat well. I think with the average bowling attacks most sides will need five bowlers to take 20 wickets.

There atleast six greats though in both forms. If you can't pick three you got issues imo.
Over several rounds 6 greats (which might not be ideal for your team) isn't that great a deal. Australia still has greats left over even now. Immense.
