Norwood's on Fire
It’s clearly Geraint Jones. He’d never even got a duck and he went and got a pair as we returned the Ashes without so much as a fight

Some of England's finest quicks went out with a a whimper due to being picked for a series when they were just that bit past it.
Bob Willis - 3 tests against WI in 1984 for combined figures of 6 for 367
Gus Fraser - 2 tests in Australia in 1998 for combined figures of 4 for 229
Darren Gough - 2 tests against SA in 2003 for combined figures of 1 for 215

Sir Geoffrey had a nondescript end. Nothing controversial and it wasn’t known to be his last Test. He made 18 and 6 in a tame draw. He then buggered off to South Africa for great wads of cash and got a three year ban, at the end of which he was 45.

Should have been Thorpe and KP. Not Bell and KP. But I understand why they did it.
In hindsight it's obvious but at the time Bell was seen as a golden child and it was always down to Thorpe & KP

Also let's not forget that KP dropped his first 6 catches in Test cricket before taking one

I was watching the Astle double hundred test in youtube once, it was Parore's last test, announced. The Lancaster Park crowd booed him.
That's terrible. Some probably thought Germon was a better keeper.

Talking of Astle, randomly retiring during an Aussie ODI triseries is up there (out of form and under pressure from John Bracewell).
