Ability wise he was there but had the knack of throwing away his wicket after 20-30. He did played a good number of games at top order so not easy to average higher there.weird to praise Ali’s batting and regard it far superior when he averages less than Holder
I don't think Jason Holder has underachieved , his record is very respectable ..29 with the ball , 29 with the bat ..Not bad at all ...Both have underachieved a bit in tests.
Batting wise, Moeen is technically far more proficient than Holder. Bowling wise, Holder is more proficient.
Patel is Axar Patel?Despite being a home track bully Holder is much much better than Moeen.
He would be the 6th best allrounder of the last 10 years. Top 10:
Shakib, Ashwin, Jadeja, Stokes, De Grandhomme, Holder, Philander*, Patel, Woakes, Mayers/Green then Moeen
*If his batting had been better he'd be higher up the list.
Yes. Will edit to make it clearer. He's an excellent player and would have a long test career for any other team.Patel is Axar Patel?
His batting would have been good enough for SENA by now if not for Jadeja being there.Patel is Axar Patel?
Holder's bowling is not very good either. Yes, he averages 29 but he picked only 150 odd wickets in 60 odd tests. That's only slightly better than Stokes.Despite being a home track bully Holder is much much better than Moeen.

Unfortunately because of the terrible West Indian batting they have lost many matches by an innings, so his WPM looks worse than it should. He actually has quite decent bowling stats in most countries along with absolutely atrocious stats in NZ and Australia where he has struggled against some top quality batsmen.Holder's bowling is not very good either.
