Moeen Ali tested Covid Positive

kingkallis

International Coach
England's Moeen Ali has tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival in Sri Lanka. He will now observe 10 days of self-isolation. Chris Woakes has been identified as a possible close contact and will self-isolate and be subject to further testing.

Bugger. Hope Mo recovers quickly and, on a purely selfish note as a cricket fan, hope the tour goes ahead.

I realise SL is quite a long haul from the People's Republic of Brit, but it seems so weird he tested negative before he left and has now returned a positive. Seems unlikely he was exposed on the plane and, one assumes he's asymptomatic, so presumably he must've been exposed somewhere between 3-14 days beforehand.

Not a great start to the tour. Let's hope it doesn't spread around the squad (or even that this is a false positive like they had in South Africa?) and that Moeen is ok. Seems he's isolating right up to the day of the first Test, so little chance he'll be able to play if everything goes ahead on schedule.
