Hussey debuted during his prime in a much stronger setup and has a middling away record. Will take Thorpe just.

Close one.

I will probably go with Thorpe because Thorpe has more performances away from home than Hussey especially in subcontinent.

Thorpe vs Martyn is a good comparison imo. Both good all-conditions batters adept on tough wickets. Underrated players.

How is this close. Hussey massively underrated. Just didn't get enough opportunity because Australia an absolute juggernaut at the time, otherwise would have the cumulative numbers to back an impressive average and obvious talent and class.

Good point. Hussey probably missed out on some of his peak years because of how much competition there was.

It is most definitely "close". Thorpe has a considerably better away record than Hussey despite playing half his career in the 90s. Australia was often one big batting paradise in Hussey's career.
