Meg Lanning

Molehill

International Captain
Very sad to hear she's been ruled out of the Women's Ashes this Summer "on the advice of medical staff because of an issue which requires management at home". She had only just returned from a 6 month mental health break. I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Healey takes over as skipper, McGrath as Vice.

Really sorry to hear this. Australia have ridiculous depth, so will still be incredibly hard to beat anyway, but the team is just better to watch when she's in it.

Yep, they undoubtedly do have great strength. But I think this could hurt them particularly in the ODI's where Lanning led run chases are basically forgone conclusions. Without that calm assurance, who will take on the responsibility?

Sad to hear that. Hope she recovers quickly.

What is format this year? How many matches of each form of the game?
1 Test (4 points), 3 ODI's and 3 T20's (2 points each). Having reduced the value of the Test from 6 to 4 they've now at least given it 5 days. Seems a bit odd.

Phoebe Litchfield is only 19 but a massive talent
She seems an absolute run machine (apparently she's from Orange so Mel Farrell has mentioned (once or a thousand times). Some great talent coming through, for England, Alice Capsey looks really special too.

I don't follow women's cricket. What trophy do the women get if they win? Do they get the same Ashes Urn as the men? As it is a multi-format how can it be called the Ashes?
