Cricinfo on yesterday’s ODI

“since ESPNcricinfo started maintaining ball-by-ball records, there have been over 4000 instances of a team losing three wickets in the space of 60 balls when batting first in ODIs; only once has a team responded with more sixes in the next five overs than the four that India hit in this match in Pune.”

Whatever it takes!!!
There was a rare gold article in crapinfo on the subject by Siddharth Mongia. We are not gonna change our philosophy towards white ball cricket unless we change the personnel.

To me, it is clear that we cannot support pure specialist batters or bowlers too much longer in the LO formats, the way the game is evolving. Rohit, Virat and Bumrah - those should be the only specialists we select. Rest have to contribute in more than 1 discipline. Obviously, our current keeper contenders are all good batsmen but the other 7 should be able to bat and bowl. 4 of them could be bowlers who can bat and 3 of them could be batters who can bowl, but we need that kinda structure if we have to keep pace with the way the game is going.

Not Test cricket but stupid,
Grahame Clinton of Surrey was taken to hospital in 15 of the 17 counties, ( no durham then) that he played against, don't know which two he missed out on.
Quite an achievement.

You'd think at some point before the 15th hospital visit you would figure maybe cricket wasn't for you

West Indies lost the privilege of 5 match series after 2000 massacre

Not quite fair given England still get one here despite 2006, and 2013, and 2017

I wont mind 3 Test series becoming the norm for WTC going forward between all sides. Maybe the bigger ones can still play 4 or 5. But hopefully the minimum of 3 tests can become a thing.

Might be hard to convince the boards who have to be dragged kicking and screaming to losing money twice though, no?
