Mark Taylor vs. David Boon

Boony. Taylor not getting dropped at his lowest point was stupid and I think he's overrated despite an obviously terrific start to his career.

He had a period from '96-'97 where he scored under 20 in 15 of 17 innings. It's never even mentioned how after his career saving 129 in the '97 ashes he scored 1, 2, 1 and 0 in his next four digs. His opening partner Slats was dropped 3 tests after a double century in '96

Was lucky he ever got the chance to make that 334

I remember Taylor in 89. Barely heard of him and he turned up and seemed to bat forever. Boon featured also with the Barmy Army chant “He’s fat, he’s round, he bounces on the ground, David Boon”

Boon was a bit better but it's hard to split. Both also excelled in their respective fielding positions and both took turns as fill-in keepers during matches.

Boon was my favorite aussie cricketer ever and a childhood hero. Would say he was better, but I might be a bit biased here.
