MacGill - "Might outlast next spin generation"

you guys are all a bunch of tossers. McGill has proven time and time again that he is Warne's equal. Only that Warne was in the right place at the right time, and McGill's a bit've an outsider in the team. McGill unlike the others would rather drink chardonnay and drink red wine, whilst the others get ****ed on beer and watch porn. McGill is the only person in the team with a University degree... a law one at that. HE is a really intelligent guy and that places him on the outer of the team....

For those of you saying he gets wickets with bad balls is clutching at straws. The only reason u say this is because statistics wise he's a top class bowler and u have to make up crap like that to make him sound otherwise. He bowls a lot of good balls that go unrewarded that play a huge role in him getting his wickets with the bad balls.

No one at the moment in the current crop will come close to him when Warne retires and it'd be great to see him continue at that time if he feels right.

I know McGill on a personal level so I'd suggest none of you make comments about his morality...

Great post Slats. Pass me a Chardy.

I wouldn't call racially abusing someone about their race morally fibre (darren Lehmann)
Stealing some kids camera (shane warne)
Cheating (hanse Cronje)
Abusing someone of ***ual relationships with another player (McGrath)

Thing is Voltman, everyone in cricket has done something "morally wrong" however it's up to how the media and the team portray this person. Compared to so many others McGill hasn't strayed to any great degree. Warne's treatment of the test match umpires is short of great. Slater's also. Hayden's also... I could talk all day about it.

And your thoughts on this list?:

He was banned for life from a minor league in England for a fight with a rival player and, earlier this year, he was fined 750 US dlrs for an outburst against an umpire in a domestic match.

In Adelaide last year he escaped with a warning from the match referee after a collision with West Indies 12th man Ramnaresh Sarwan. He was also fined $750 by Australian management when he verbally abused a croupier at a Sri Lankan casino.

On another occasion he threw the ball at his club captain for not implementing a field setting he wanted.

By the way, if I don't answer for a while, I'm not ignoring you - I'm at work, and have to go out to do a job.

Add Shane Warne's wondering fingures on his mobile phone.

this stuff's all in 2001. and my argument about him in relation to other cricketers still stands mate. He doesn't punch people outside of night clubs. or have we forgotten that? Ponting is now regarded as a Saint yet your questioning McGill's credibility about something a long time ago

sheesh one game on a turner where he actually bowled better than usual and he thinks hes brilliant again, completely ignoring how much rubbish he bowled in SL and against india.

quite obviously voltman and mister wright did marc...

and to say he's a bad bowler tooextra just cos he bowled poorly in those series is quite weak... he might've just been out've form. there are heaps of players who go in and out've form... He's now back in form and is as destructive as ever...

also there's an old saying in cricket... you're only as good as your last inning

I only purely think that 3 of MacGill's wickets in the test may have involved actual skill. The others were all bad, sorry, tripe balls or frustrated batsmen.

yeah frustrated because the good balls he was bowling were almost impossible to hit! then when a bad ball comes along they relax. You don't have to write down how it's just how many wickets he got.

Richardson must forever be a shocker then and Hussain an all-time great

the worst part is that as usual he said stuff he didnt need to say. during the series when he got hammered by india and bowled absolute rubbish he actually admitted that he was bowling at his best.
and really all his career hes bowled his usual 2 rubbish balls an over, something that most teams would cash on.

Or could it be they he might have been out played, and that's not surprising considering that Sri Lanka and India are traditionally supposed to be good player of spin.

He is a strike bowler, so therefore it probably doesn't matter if he goes for a few runs if he gets some wickets.

you can only be outplayed if you bowl well though, something that he didnt do against india or SL. with 2 rubbish balls an over, he couldnt have bowled anything but poorly.

everyone goes through bad form though tooextra. can't u understand that bowlers don't take pfeiffers every innings they play? During this time admittedly stuie wasn't bowling his best.... But now he's back in to it and he's as dangerous as ever. If anyone says STuart McGill isn't a worlc class bowler who'd waltz into any other international side... have rocks in their head

Hmm, I don't remember him claiming that he was going to outlast the next spin generation after India clobbered him all around Sydney. Maybe MacGill should learn that modesty is a virtue well worth having...
