Liam Livingstone called up to the England test squad

CarlsbergXpress

U19 Vice-Captain
Not being a die-hard county cricket viewer I haven’t seen him in the flesh. Just wondering what views people have, 24 years old Lancashire batsman, decent lions tour, numbers look good at 1st class level (averaging best part of 49). Who's place is under threat here? Vince for my money if he can bat 3, or move Malan up and bat him at 5?

S.Kennedy

International Vice-Captain
I was reading an interview with him today and he is keen to stress that he is actually more a red ball specialist than a white ball. People seem to have gained this conception of him as a white ball specialist.

Probably comes from him smashing 350 in a one day game. Those sort of scores will give you a reputation as a bit good

Such an English sounding name cannot belong to a good cricketer. He needs to have a South African or Kiwi sounding name to play for the English cricket team and be any good. Amateur hour by the selectors.

Now I understand why I've always struggled to hit the ball off the square

Should have been in the ashes squad. Don't think he is a number 3 though but Vince has to be dropped to make way for him. Whether they move Malan to 3 or shuffle Root up is open for debate but Livingstone has to play in my view.

There are problems with all the options but I like Malan at 5, think Root at 3 would probably be the way to go.

He batted at 3 for Lancs, against the England management wishes. Unlike the other contenders wants to bat there. Can't really see him playing. If Vince isn't going to play why take him?
