Gillespie is ahead on variety of conditions production. Hazlewood is a bit unlucky that his prime coincided with Australia hardly touring but you can only judge on what’s happened.

Josh can never match Jason's batting achievement.
Jason Gillespie - Test Batting Stats

Matches: 71
Innings: 93
Not Outs: 28
Ducks: 13
Runs: 1218
Highest Score: 201*
Average: 18.73
50s: 2
100s: 1

Pretty good stats for a guy who batted at mostly number 9 and number 10. He also batted at number 8, 6, 5, 4 and 3 as well. Good night-watchman too.

Jason Gillespie would have done some ungodly things to some of these current batting line ups we have in Test cricket today , especially in much better bowling conditions than the era Gillespie played in.

That being said I think Hazlewood is an excellent bowler. very intelligent with his use of angles and mixture of pace . He cracked all formats .

This is really hard to split, both nailed on world class bowlers. In this case I think I'll split by era, as Jason Gillespie's success in the CEO era was a bit more impressive and made his relative value to a side higher.
