He sounded like a very exciting batsmen who was in the ballpark of Oldfield as a glovemen. He wouldn't have played post WW2 so it's not like his career was cut drastically short, but it's still very sad how early he passed

Jack Fingleton and his unnamed co-selector picked him in their World XI of cricketers they'd played with/against in "Cricket Crisis", ahead of Oldfield, Ames and Duckworth.

Has anyone else been made Widen Cricketer of the Year posthumously?
