Nah, they don't want to destroy all 18 counties.......only the ones that are practically Scotland.

The ECB firstly implemented central contracts which reduced the counties to nothing much more than a nursery school for Ing-ger-land. They removed two games per season for 2017, creating a lopsided structure as a result which makes absolutely no sense whatever angle you care to analyse it from. They want to create an eight team city-based competition independent of the counties, which will no doubt conflict with the county's three competitions, reducing them to second XI status. Treasure your academy (I do not know what your county is)? Then kiss goodbye to it as the ECB have had other ideas about county academies,

How much more proof does one need that the ECB wants to destroy county cricket (or at best, reduce it as a competition to complete impotence)?

No county cricket in August 2017! Now, I do not know how great your knowledge of the English weather is but July/August are the best times to produce those idyllic English summers which are simply glorious for watching a day's county cricket. Not a jot of it on however this August! Instead you will be forced to endure Twenty20 ****e which is evening so basically does not take advantage of the sunshine anyhow, and nobody spends ''a day at the cricket'' at Twenty20.

Pietersen is saying - if I have this correct - that the IPL pay is disproportionate and thus reflects poorly on Test cricket,

A T20 specialist becomes one of the current England team's richest players...Tests are falling way behind at the moment.

Wasn't - isn't - Pietersen one of the original Twenty20 merchants, getting himself in some problems with the ECB over IPL fixtures? He has probably been the cricketer who has benefited most from monetary inspired Twenty20 franchise hopping!!
