Ireland and Afghanistan awarded Test status by ICC

Shri

Mr. Glass
Can't wait to exclude them from my statsguru search in arguments for the next 15 years.

Congrats though!

Fantastic news!

And to everyone worrying about the stats etc., you may have a point, but unless we grow the game (more Test sides, a bigger World Cup) the game we all love will be reduced to T20 comps in a handful of countries by 2040.

Think Afghanistan will give us a run and might win a test or two in our home soil. We should invite them asap since next match is scheduled late august. Its a great opportunity.

New Zealand have some pretty big off season gaps over the next couple of years. Wonder if they'll line up some games...

all the teams that have big gaps (NZ, bang, WI, SA, SL etc) should give them a game imo. might not be glamorous but it's some test cricket and as a fan more is always welcome

out of interest, does Afghanistan have a functioning board? Or is the whole operation being administered from Dubai?
Afghanistan cricket board operates from Kabul. No foreigners in the board and not operating from outside. The board is relatively well run compared to other institutions in the country.

It's quite successful and has no economical issues. The board is being supported economically by the government and kept in check by fans, media and the government.

It's one of the most active on social media as well. You can see more on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AfghanistanCricketBoardOfficial/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED

Has anyone bothered looking into how soon Morgan could qualify to play Test Cricket for Ireland if he abandoned England straight away?
